    Is this fast food?

I bet people are lining up to eat them. I find it hard to believe that only has 1000 calories! I'd have guessed 2500. Four patties? Come ON! I get nauseous just looking at it.

Where can I find water levels online?

It completely depends on the body of water, and whether it's a tidal stream or not. Every stream is different. The USGS website has all sorts of statistics, including averages and highs/lows.

Where can I find water levels online?

Having had a house on the Delaware that was forever in mortal peril of being carried off, rely on the USGS website: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/

    New Kayak

There is room in my heart and my life for both canoe and kayak. I have always had both, and I prefer to use the canoe when I am going out solo. I also turn it around and sit in the bow. Well, I say I do, but it's been about 6 years since I've taken it out alone, and I don't see using it again...

    Bigfoot....

You do have a point. :)

    Pigs.....

That's bad. They are very destructive and will probably outcompete several species. They are a real problem in more southern climates like Texas. Not a surprise that they are around. Pigs are very adaptable, kinda like people. They will probably be successful in NJ unless aggressively controlled.

    Bigfoot....

While that discovery was fantastic, it was not a new species. Those were Western lowland gorillas.

    Bigfoot....

That looks like a gorilla suit that's been left out in the rain.

    New Kayak

We were out today as well, for the first time this year. It was a heavenly day, wasn't it?

    Chigged!

I have still not seen a chigger firsthand, I've only suffered from the bites. I've captured what I THOUGHT were chiggers with Scotch tape, but under the microscope, they were very tiny larval deer ticks. My best defense has been a soapy scrub brush in the shower after the pines. It seems to do...

    Am I alone?

I have spent a lot of time in Spain during the summer where it can be unbelievably hot. Yet nobody has air conditioning, not even in many of the hotels. I have to admit that there have been some brutal nights, but mostly, it's no big thing. I would much rather spend the money and energy on...

    Am I alone?

I hate air conditioning, it gives me headaches. I never had it, not for my entire life, until I bought the house we're in now, 3 years ago. My husband loves it so it's a compromise. I'd rather sleep with a fan and all the windows open. I love summer and feel like I'm missing out on it always...

    They’re everywhere…they’re everywhere!!

Haha, we won't get into the day I brought a vial of adult ticks on a plane with me.

    Enemy of turtles

He looks very thin to me. You can see his elbones really well, his hip bones show a bit on top, and his belly has a tucked up appearance. It's hard to see through his dull fur, but his butt sort of comes to a point instead of being round. He just has the appearance of a dog in bad condition...

    Enemy of turtles

Why would they do that? I keep looking at those photos. He is so emaciated, and this is a time of abundant food for them. I wonder if a tick-borne disease is responsible for his skinny physique?
