    New Guy (Family)

Welcome to the forum, StanBo. That's a good truck for most pineland trails. I hope you're not running around out there without a spare... that's a little risky! John-

Fire Control Tower #23, Cape May, NJ

The lighthouse is a frequent destination for our motorcycle trips. As this is only a couple blocks away, we'll have to check out this tower, also. Thx for posting this Mike. John-

    Atsion Get-Together: Sunday, August 23, 2009

It turned out to be a fantastic day in and around Atsion. The weather couldn't have been better (or the company). It was great to finally meet some of the folks from the forum. I want to thank Ben for putting it all together. The (2) guides were super and we seemingly got the VIP treatment. They...

    A Trip to Tuckerton, 1809

Another great one, Jerseyman. Thank you. But a difficult read due to the lack of punctuation. It makes her sound like a very long-winded lass. I'm thinking this had to do a limited amount of education. There is no mention of a white stag... so I imagine this is not the stage that was turned...

    Riding to Atsion in 1773

This is a fabulous post, Jerseyman. Thank you for posting it. Really helps puts things in perspective. I've always been intrigued by the way-stops on these old journeys. On the 11th, they stopped for the night in "Moores-Town" at "Josh. Smiths" house. This may have been what is known now...

Banjo, There's a dump station at the Atsion Family Campground inside of a mile from the mansion. However, there is a $15 fee payable at the the ranger station.

    Mullica Water Level

Thank You Thanx for all the help, folks. I figured with all the rain we've had, the levels would be good. It's just nice to hear first hand from some one who's been on the river. BW- that site was helpful, thx. Here's the link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nj/nwis/rt

I've been wanting to get into that mansion for years to see if the rumors are true. :ghost: I'd like to join you. (There's safety in numbers)

    Mullica Water Level

I'm taking the kids on one last paddling overnighter before school starts. Maybe this w/e or next. Has any one been on the Mullica lately, and if so, could you let me know about the water levels, any bad portages, etc.? It'll be the just the 2 kids and myself canoeing from the mill to...

    Thanks Ben

Sometimes, living in or so close to the Pines, one takes them for granted. Hearing of new places and the adventures of others (and seeing their photos) puts things in an entirely different perspective, and renews interests. This site goes a long way to making this possible. We have Ben and...

Outdoor recreation is on a decline...

MP...Promised Land is one of our favorite places, also. But with petrol at $3.40+/gal, it's hard to justify that trip.

    Secret of the painted rock

These guys, Hart and Calu, were both at the Sweetwater book signing in March. A strange pair, to be sure. Being a lighthouse fan, I purchased the book about Tucker's Island. Definitely a teenage fiction mystery, in the Hardy Boys vein, but with a local flavor. My son is doing a school book...

    Trashy pines

The recycling truck came by this morning and he took the whole 35 gal. can of old recyclables from the woods, plus my weekly can, with no comments. Mission accomplished.:)

Framed Pieces of Wreckage of Emilio Carranza's Plane

Good point. Many CoAs are forgeries anyway. I guess for $20, it's worth taking a chance.

Planned rally at Brendan Byrne 5/17

I was hoping the rally would be on the w/e of 5-11 when MP originally posted. Unfortunately, I'll be on Long Island that weekend. I'll certainly spread the word to any one interested, though.

Framed Pieces of Wreckage of Emilio Carranza's Plane

Shouldn't something like this have a Certificate of Authenticity? Or are you buying it "as is"? It would be pretty cool to have this if it was real.

    Trashy pines

It's very satisfying to give a little back to the piece of land that offers me so much pleasure. I'm happy to pass along this way of thinking to my kids as my father did to me.And I'm proud to hear kind words from the people on this board who do so much good for the barrens.

Thanx for the ideas. My brother and I are determined to find out what these things are for.:bang:

    High Tension Line

I've had the same thing happen to me at Oak Pond. It won't stop me though, I love that place. I just thought that if your gonna clear, go all the way, and take them to the ground. It's only my opinion, but it would look better than this!

    Trashy pines

Yesterday afternoon, my 8 yr old daughter and I took a ride in the woods to one of my favorite pick/fishin'-woodie/huntin' spots to try our luck with a couple of Mepps spinners. The fish weren't biting, so we walked around a bit. We couldn't believe the amount of trash scattered about...
