Was out on caranza tonight and last and it’s very Smokey. Smells out to my house on occasion in Shamong. Seems to be near featherbed.

It’s strong on damsleff as well for the last week or so. Also on dirt portion on caranza up to damsleff.

I feel like it is just general repair. I noticed it last year as well.

Is news to me but I do recall the same thing with the atco dragway fire last year.

Very bizzare but in Shamong we didn’t get a single drop of rain.

I drove the area this am and road bike out this evening. I didn’t see a whole lot of hot burn but there was some parallel to rr tracks. It mostly looked like duff burnt and then the smoke killed the vegetation. Some spots were crispy but the majority was not.

It was open last night I drove it around 9pm. Not a very hot burn in that section.

It was as of Monday night. But you can easily park before memorial and walk about 50 feet to it. I’ll be driving roads tonight and will see if it still is. I drove in from friendship all the way down caranza on Monday since there was no blockade at friendship.

Heard lots of thunder in distance but nothing in Shamong. That storm was right where fire is, hopefully it helped.

That is a great look right there. That outer edge looks like a hot burn. I’m guessing they backfired from rr tracks. Interesting to see how hot it burn outside the source area.

Here is the polygon. This equates to around 5k acres which is about right. I only could see backfire which appeared to be very low intensity.

Very stupid reason for a fire, not surprising but just dumb. I drove much of the area today. It’s backfired from entrance to Batona camp off caranza on northeast side all the way down to speedwell. It’s then backfired from speedwell to eagle. From eagle to Harris station and back up to white...

It’s interesting you mentioned chipmunks. When I first bought by house there was a ton of them. Then all a sudden they died off and I guess it was an increase in predators. This past week I saw one for the first time in 4 years or so. Same for my folks house in barrington. Regarding the turtles...

That’s usually pretty accurate guy. The back of the carapace and small tail and behavior made me think male. Either way it’s always nice seeing them and never gets old.

Your he box turtle is a she Guy. She is probably stuffed with eggs and that is why she was feisty and energetic. They can’t sit still just before egg laying.

Guy I’m guessing that box turtles has spent ample time in a bog with lots of iron in it. It’s likely a very old box turtle.

Hammonton got hit pretty good with rain, but not a drop in Shamong.
