Not the Pines, but fun nonetheless...

Great post! Back in my college days I used to climb at the Gunks in New York, I also did some caving in North Jersey but can no longer recall where. Did the animals you found fall down the hole or perhaps come in somewhere else? Great that you solved a 20 year old mystery.

    Missing Person

No Mike, you wern't stupid, I wasn't clear. I belive Devilstoy post that the rangers said she was found safe, it's just that that fact didn't show up in the Central Record article. We will probably never know the whole story. I enjoy your posts. :) Ed

    Missing Person

She made the front page of The Central Record, complete with her picture. It is verbatum of the other links about her being missing, nothing about her being found. http://www.southjerseylocalnews.com/articles/2010/01/28/medford_central_record/news/doc4b609c966f7cb511411899.txt

    Dogs and Snakes

I've occasionally seen rattelers where I frequently hike with my dogs. I only keep one on a 26 foot long retractable line the others run free. She is a 12 Lb terrier who likes to look under every log and crevice, a bad idea. She is used to snakes but I am afraid she might inadvertently stick her...

    Survival shelter

I found about 6 of them grouped together just off the Batona Trail about a decade ago. This was south of APH, about 1/4 mile south of White Horse Road. On the lighter side I found one made up using an old sofa. This was also along the skit between the Carranza Monument and the boot camp. Ed

    Survival shelter

No Bill, it wasn't me. I drive a tan Jeep Wrangler. I was there about 8:30. I frequently see that blue pick-up running his dogs there. What do you drive, I'll keep a look out? I walk a Great Dane and a white Jack Russell Terrier, we're easy to spot. Look at my avitar. Ed

    Survival shelter

I found this intact shelter while bushwacking near the Batona Camp this morning. There was no campfire or other disturbance around it. It did appear to have been used, there was a broken flash light in it. How to build a shelter...

    Missing Person

Wharton's a big place, it would help to have more information. Also a Denali is a big SUV. I have a Tahoe and there are not many roads I can go down without scratching it. It is very easy to get stuck now. I am avoiding many roads with my TJ because of that and I have no backup.

    Seeing yellow

I don't think so. I've seen grids set up with surveyors tape before to keep some order in a drive. These marks went off in a sort of straight line. I will go back and follow them.

    Teepee

No, it isn't built around a tree, it just looks that way because of a larger stick on the other side. The floor is clear. There was a poor attempt to thatch it with cedar.

    Teepee

They started to overlay it with cedar but didn't finish, no signs of a camp. It is too small to lie down in streched out and it is definitley not a survival shelter, which there is several south of APH.

    Seeing yellow

I'll have to go back and look. It is way over marked, litterally a gallon per 200 feet or so. The marks go through heavy brush.

    Seeing yellow

Within the past month I have seen allot of trees with yellow paint on them. This is on Push Line Road. I first saw it on Dec 28th and is new since I am down this way frequently. It is approximately here on the right side of the road after you cross the gravel hill traveling west toward...
