    Missing Person

I thought today was the 25th. The poster said Sunday January 25th so I assumed I had todays date wrong. I would guess she went missing yesterday and they made a mistake with the date. Jeff

    ætna furnace, Tuckahoe

Great find Jerseyman!! That tree is interesting to me also, Bob. It is somewhat difficult, despite trees and objects in the photo to get a real perspective on it. Consequently, at first glance, it almost looks like the ruins of an ancient european castle. Very stricking. Jeff

    And so it begins....

This doesn't sound good at all. Jeff

    Chigger Bites...! ouch!

Mike, don't be taken back. Chigger behavior has been studied extensively and there are concrete facts about how they operate. The only opinion i have about chiggers is that they suck (actually, that is pretty much a fact also). Here is the thing...a chigger does not burrow under the skin, it...

    Chigger Bites...! ouch!

It's not Karl's theroy. I believe it is fact. Ive had chiggers dozens of times. I think the coagulated blood makes it appear that the chigger is still there.

    Music for the day

It was a tough one to find in theaters. I'm waiting on an On demand release or rent. I've seen a bunch of youtube clips of it. Looks real good. I'm a big Jimmy Page fan. I like Jack White alot but I don't really think he defines an era or style as much as Page or Edge. Looking at it...

The Risley Branch, a PBX Hike

I'm way ahead of you, Al. I already had the kayak trip planned before we finished the hike. I had fished the area right by the dam previously, but after this hike I'm going to fish the whole thing. Jeff

    More mountain lion sightings

Oh, that's great, Bob. Your first reaction upon seeing a 2' bigfoot would be "I'm going to beat the hell out that little thing!" No wonder they live in such seclusion, they're scared out of their minds. Jeff

The Risley Branch, a PBX Hike

The Bowker homestead was an amazing find by Guy. The Bowker family were major land holders in Tabernacle at one time. An old car (50's era chevy maybe?) near the ruins Snake, but more likely a fish spine dropped in a bush by and eagle or osprey (my finger is not deformed, just a weird...

The Risley Branch, a PBX Hike

sadly, and somewhat disturbingly, Guy has taken to impaling small hibernating mamals along the bog edges. We're going to get him counseling.:)

No problem. when I try to attach photos to a post reply, it won't let me go to my gallery and then come back to my incompleted post. For example, I write in some text, then go to my gallery to get a photo and when I come back my text and reply window is gone. Jeff

    Breaker One Nine

this object looks familar to me. I think I found it a few years ago and posted a "what is it" thread. I can't find that photo now. I bet I know where you were. BTW: I agree with Sue that that is a sewing machine stand. I have a 30's or 40's era Sears Roebuck table saw mounted on an old...

    More mountain lion sightings

I agree with PBfrog, Al. I really didn't get that German was implying that you need a degree to validate a sighting. I took it that he was just saying that in all his years of working in the pines he has learned to be skeptical. Jeff

    quaker bridge tavern ?

Some time ago, under your suggestion when we were hiking through the "desert", I did try burning a great big, dry, pine knot to see the result. Burnt very well, really flamed up. free of sap I don't think there was much creosote to be concerned with. It seemed to burn hot, but I doubt it...
