    Unique Way Of Removing Ticks

An excellent idea. Thanks for the tip, Guy! :)

    Poisin OAK

Ooh, yeah, jewel weed. That works pretty well. I have made a tea out of the plant and patted it on my arm with a cotton ball, and it really did soothe it. Completely forgot about that one. It's cool how it usually grows right near poison ivy. :)

    Poisin OAK

Oogh, sorry to hear that. My husband and I have been nursing an awful mystery case of poison ivy these past two weeks. (we honestly can't think of how we got it). I have been doing some reading about it, and have gotten a few tips: -Alcohol is what you should wash with when you first find out...

Trip Report - Oswego Back 40

I dunno. I keep thinking. They're just not quite right, those bones. They sort of look like livestock bones, but....not totally. Hm.

Trip Report - Oswego Back 40

Being a geek, I was thinking about this, and what could have had such large, stout bones. And the skull with a big forehead. Anyone ever heard of feral hogs wandering the pines?

State declares war against the voracious gypsy moth

We had spraying all through our town in North Jersey in the 70s, anyone remember that? They sprayed all the trees with Sevin using huge high pressure hoses. Not a terribly toxic pesticide until you hose it around like that. Sheesh. Good thing technology has gone far since then and we can use a...

Aw, bummer that you don't have photos. The skull would really help. Do you remember seeing any teeth?

Were those the only two bones you found in the area, or was there evidence that it was a whole beast?

Bovine = cow. I like to think that Bigfoot had an, um, hand in it. :) I'd say it's more likely that your garden-variety homo sapiens sapiens dragged it (or parts thereof) there, or it's also feasible that it was a feral cow. It happens. There are some steers that have been wandering along the...

    Personal issue related to sweating

Forgive me for replying, being a girlie and all, but I used to do some fairly hardcore road biking, (girls get saddle sores, too!) and learned quickly that A&D ointment (or even Vaseline) smeared liberally over the affected area will alleviate the problem. It feels only a little oogey at first...

Those bones could very well be bovine, and that would be my guess. I found part of a horse spine in Lebanon SF this winter. I assumed it was carcass that was dragged there. *shrug* Nice photos! Looks like a great day was had by all. :)

    Trenton marsh

I don't know the name of the road, but if you face the steps, the road out is to your left, it goes up the hill and out to a neighborhood. We went in from the top of the hill once, then found this entrance. Handy!

    Bucket feeders

What we saw was a red plastic 5 gallon pail with a plastic lid. It had no other features, and was closed. I was guessing that someone comes and spreads deer chow once in a while.

Have you seen or heard something you cant explain?

He sent me a PM, that's what brought me back to this forum last week. I must have posted about our encounter with a bear up in North Jersey. He asked me if it walked on two legs or four, cause if it walked on two legs, "that was no bear". That made made my month.

So the Bigfoot guy isn't around anymore? :(

    Bucket feeders

We saw one last week while out caching, too. I guess we weren't the only nosy ones! We got out and looked inside, and also guessed that it was deer feed. (although I did not taste it!) :v: There are many studies sponsored by Rutgers going in NJ on that involve feed thru birth control for deer...

    Anyone been to Cowtown Rodeo?

I have been there. I expected sort of a sleazy, fair-type scene, but was surprised to see a real live, dyed-in-the-wool rodeo. It's fun! I recommend it.
