What mammal would dig up sand over and over?

Turkey scratch up large areas of leaves but I"ve never seen them scratch bare sand. They scratch to uncover bugs in leaf litter. When a dog scratches it is spreading it's toes and leaving scent from glands located between it's toes.

    The Isaac Haines Stone

That has to be the smallest incised stone I"ve ever seen. Looks like the briar comission beat you to it and had it already landscaped:-)

Yes to the buck rub (a scrape is a scratched out mark on the ground done by the antlers) a rub is where the buck is rubbing off velvet while mock fighting with a tree. Also they scent mark the branch overhanging the scrap with an eye gland and then piss down their hocks to scent the dirt with...

    Unexpected

I don't think Hope is among us anymore. It was known when she was in charge that you could visit the refuge but to never let any pro hunting opinions surface or you would be escorted off the property:-)

    Where is this?

I was not aware they were two different cemeteries.I thought it was all Leek McKean and often wondered why some of the stones were outside of the fence and not all were included inside of the fence.Never seen two cemeteries side by side like that before. Are they on state property? Who owns them?

    Bear incident

As an old time caver I can sympathize with the man.Nothing wrong with crawling around in caves but it just so happens bears like to den up in them occasionally.I would have thought he might of smelled the bear. They really do smell like horse poop and hay.Sorta like a dirty barn.Perhaps the cave...

When i was in the desert the bedouin were all driving Toyotas as well. You'd be in the Desert flat as a pancake as far as the eye could see and no one in sight.Break out some flats of soda or water or start tearing down any out houses we built and the bedouins would swarm out of these little...
