That tree is affectionately known by me and my sons as the "pee tree". My sons are 29 and 28 and they still remember me pulling over there on our way back from a woods ride in Batsto to take a leak. They were probably 5 and 6 at the time. Time flies.

    Post Apocalypse: Miller's Bog

Me fetching a pail of water. I did not fall down or break my crown. 6 gallon wine juice buckets are the bomb.

    Post Apocalypse: Miller's Bog

As Boyd said, my power was out. Sometimes if we have believable advance notice of a big storm, snow or other type, we will fill several buckets with water and store them for use in filling the toilet tanks. In most cases, we will ride out a one day outage with 4 or 5 buckets and some bottled...

    Post Apocalypse: Miller's Bog

Miller's Bog, Pestletown, NJ at 20:30 hours on Tuesday night. The sky was absolutely on fire. The conditions imparted an eery feeling of uncertainty in both my wife and I as we stood there on the dam getting ready to gather water. I have at least a hundred photos from this vantage point taken...

We got gas last year and I only did stove and dryer so far. Going to stay with oil for heat for awhile. Last year oil dropped a little and it is a hotter heat than gas. My plumber buddy dropped gas lines into multiple areas so I can do whatever whenever.

Back to hearing nothing but happy birds and tree frogs. Drinking a Dale's Pale Ale on the back porch right now. So much nicer than the hum of generators.

Thanks Bob, that's very nice of you but we are doing okay with mine. I have a 4kw and I run it 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours At night for fridge and freezer. We jumper the well on an as needed basis. Only burned about four gallons of fuel so far. We are now officially out of hot water...

I am bailing bog water for the toilets and jockeying the generator between well and freezers. We got slammed. Wires and snapped poles still laying in the road on Old WHP. I wouldn't be surprised if we are not back on until Friday. I did get my personal best sunset pic back at the bog last night...

    A writer has a question

A PLB would be a smart thing for you to carry on your solo outings Bob. They are small and light. Mine stays in my saltwater tackle bag and it goes with me on every trip on my boat and when I go on someone else's boat. It's a lot of piece of mind for under $300.

That wouldn't help because there has never been confirmation of what type of bird Woodstock is Al. From Wikipedia: Snoopy has often wondered what type of bird Woodstock is. At one point Snoopy attempts to identify him with the aid of a field guide, asking Woodstock to attempt to imitate various...

Every search and rescue effort is different depending on location, climate, the person's age and health reliability of last known whereabouts accounts, etc. Carry one of these units and if a true life and death need to activate it arises, you will see first hand how search and rescue teams...

I agree 46'er with all of your info regarding woodcock habits and habitat. I based my opinion the very brief view of the bird early in the video. It has the profile and coloration of a woodcock and maybe I imagined the long beak ? It is really hard to tell.

Looks like a woodcock Guy. They are known to feign injury to distract predators from their young or nests.
