    Pine Barren History Shorts

There was a sawmill erected just upstream from where the dam is now. That was probably the only reason it looked like the regular dam was there in the earliest years. When the lake was drained they saw some timbers and whatnot showing where it was. I think it describes this in John Pearce's...

Scott, they didn't know any better back then. They thought the game would be infinite. It's disgusting how many shore birds and hawks and ducks they killed back then. There was a slaughter every year in Cape May County.

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

I think I read in the description that machine was being used to cut the small stuff first, which makes a lot of sense. It's the track width and the weight that likely contributes greatly to low pressure on the ground.

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

A company was just using a similar thing to clear brush out of the power lines right down the road from the fire tower in late summer.

    Merry Christmas

:) And same to you. I'm up at 6:15 to go to my daughters. I've noticed, over the past 10 years or so, that the roads are nearly empty on Christmas morning, making traveling up 70 a breeze.

Well, we can minimize it. I have my debit card tied only to a separate checking account (in the same bank) that is automatically replenished when my pension / pay check comes in. It is only enough to pay for food, gas, restaurant, and entertainment money for the month. If that gets tapped, it is...

$100 is a ridiculously high fine for that era. No wonder he took the jail time over the fine. He got a cot, a warm place, and food. Cost them more than the $100 to keep him.

Speaking of security, I love the two step process for online accounts. They'll probably figure out how to beat that eventually, but so far so good.

Yeah, you're right. You know, I've never carried a monthly balance on my credit card over to the next month in almost 15 years. That comes from having a balance of $2,600 when I was married and having to pay a lot of interest while I paid it off. With children's braces, dance lessons, Little...

    Powerful Story

We all heard the beginning of this story when it happened. This article is a powerful message to all of us to be careful in Delaware Bay. I'm especially concerned for Dottie and Scott, going out and digging clams (if in the bay). You as well Al. And Chris. And all my buddies that go down there...

11/29/2019 hike through West Pine Plains

That's where I started a personal explore in mid-october. You have to get on an old enduro trail halfway down, otherwise get permission to be on the open field.

It's just too hard to figure out. It's the garbled stuff on either side of the dot that confuses me.
