    The taxman cometh

Very slipshod reporting sir. A little casual research shows he pays $45,607.00 on the improved portion (0.5 acres) of the same lot 8.01. Most assessors tax an acre with the improvements but some will allow a half acre as in this case. Qfarm next to a lot designation in a tax record means...

    anyone know about.....

Dave, The lots around the lake containing the homes are small and appear to be owned individually, according to tax records. The Mechescatuxen Association owns the lake. I assume all residents have to pay into the association, especially since the lots don't front the road but float within the...

    What is this building?

Judging by the evidence thus far, I would say it is likely that the sale fell through. The tax records are current that indicate the private ownership.

    Research complete sir. Privately owned.

    anyone know about.....

Dave, These are the two lots owned by the Mechescatuxen Corporation. I am not sure if the association owns the homes too or if it covers just the lake and woods. Over 90 acres between the two lots. The lots may be individually owned. I can tell you first hand it is very difficult to...

    Swamp walk at sunset

Looks like a little spung along Gun Branch off Chew. Then again it could be anywhere you want it to be out in the big woods. Thanks for sharing.

The Cranberry Packing House At Hampton Park

That is an awesome structure Guy. A great find and research on your part. I would have never guessed it looked anything like it did in the photos. I am really surprised that its demise is such recent history. Scott

The Orange Army is In Town

Good for you German. We are having a great waterfowl season this year with my son's dog Hank. I took a few days in Pa. last week and dropped a nice 7 pointer with my 209x50 Encore. I don't leave home without it. Estimated dressed weight, using Pa. Game Commission's chart based on chest size...

The Orange Army is In Town

Tomorrow is the opener of the six day firearm season for deer and for a lot of South Jersey, that means the pines gun clubs will be out in force. I full appreciate the club hunting tradition in southern NJ but it is not for me. I may go out at the end of the week down here after the sweepers...

    Mannis Duck Pond

Nice Ed. One of my favorite spots in all of the pines. I would love to find some members of that deer club.

I give thanks that we live in a free country and give thanks to the people who have given and who still dedicate their lives to keep it that way.

    Waterfowling The Pines

    Waterfowling The Pines

Yesterday my son, his dog and a friend were going duck hunting off of the Delaware River for the day day but I couldn't commit for the long haul. I elected to go by myself to an old haunt of mine deep in the pines. It is a lot of work to get in there requiring a long ride in on a crappy road...

I had heard the DEP did this in the early 80's but I was skeptical. August 4th 1981

Maybe the theory was the black cats would cross the path of the deer and then they would be hexed with bad luck, step out in front of truck and be killed ??? This could explain a lot of the road kills over the last 60 years. :)

    Evans Bridge memorial

I even kinda remember that Bob had a small Thermos of coffee stashed near the bridge and I thought it was weird to drink coffee after a long hike in warm weather. Especially with cold beers nestled snugly on ice in coolers less than a mile away. I am thinking of another time ???
