I'd have to second that Piney Warden. It looks like the field we walked across on the start of a PBX hike which was the Ocean Spray field.

    another barren night

Have you made this mistake Guy? I handled a PBTF once and then rubbed my eye.I quite quickly became a groveling idiot with his face buried in swamp water shrieking like a banshee across the Barrens.Might have even started some jersey devil stories with my squalls.

    Bombing Range Road?

when I went in in Nov 89 there wasn't any wars either.Needless to say If I had known the future I wouldn't have went in but since I did I guess I"m better for the experience.I really missed family and the barrens.I just wanted something green and not covered in dust.I had family send me magazine...

    Bombing Range Road?

Thats exactly what i told my wife when I used to work in Philly every day! The most important thing to know every day is how to get out! I drove routes that were different everyday and ended at different times so you had to know where you were and what every one else was doing to know the best...

    Free Beer and Baked Beans

found a case of beer once myself in the world war 2 bunkers across from where the Motorsports park is now. I shoulda traded it for a few cases of Yoohoo, definitely a much better drink in my teetotaling opinion.

    Bombing Range Road?

The only "great" view I"ve ever seen of Philadelphias was this same view while descending after the flight back from Saudi Arabia on 5-28-1991.I hate cities but an American city is better then the Arabian desert. Now I prefer to see Philly over either shoulder if I have to see it at all.

    Berkely Crossroads Fire Notes

Boyd Those soft tendrils at the ends of Greenbriar vines this time of year are edible.I eat them every spring. The only thing I can compare them to might be asparagus but really they have their own taste.Big black anys love them too and I usually have to brush a few off before I eat the...

"Lure of the Tupehocken"...A PBX Hike

eighth picture down I remember Bill and I walking up the creek in that stretch. It's about chest deep. The next time we were in this area we were in a canoe and we saw a huge snapper laying on a beaver dam sunning. He was in shock. He said you didn't tell me there were snappers in here,we walked...

"Lure of the Tupehocken"...A PBX Hike

Where you turned south just before you got to north shore I know it is very soft in there and the little side stream it looks like you tried to cross is rough but if you had got across there is an old beaver dam that is in ruins but their is still enough left to solid up the crossing of the main...

"Lure of the Tupehocken"...A PBX Hike

I once took a person out to that camp and stood in the clearing i camped in.They asked how I knew this was the right spot since their was no visible evidence that anyone had ever camped there.I knelt down at their feet and started digging in the sand and started pulling up copious amounts of...

"Lure of the Tupehocken"...A PBX Hike

As much as I wanted to go I think I made the right call staying home.Last night I went on a frog quest with Bill just down the road from my house.I walked a half mile each way to the pond on a sand road then maybe 200 yards through sucking ooze and today I could hardly walk when i got up.The...
