    Hurricane Bill

Bill killed the flukin' for me that weekend and Danny put a hurtin' on what is left of the season this past weekend. It's alll over this Friday, 9-4-09. Overall, one of the best flounder seasons we have had in a long time with a 10 lber for me and a seven for the bride and a reasonabely full...

    Thompsons Tidal Wave

Don't forget King Crab Landing is just down the road a piece on the western shoreline of D Bay. I ride the mc out that way on weekends. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/King+Crab+Landing+NJ

I sure hoped I was going to see a turtle after that statement.

    Just an observation (Rt. 539)

Whoaa! Just a minute. This is New Jersey. You must be doing something illegal. "They" just haven't figured out what that is yet. :)

    Land Preserved, Turtle Creek Rd.

At least you can hunt Swan Bay WMA and this acquistion will provide additional adjacent habitat. You can also bank on birders knockin' a few quackers loose too, which is a plus if you're right next door.

    Beer (again)

It's amazing how many more freedoms other states allow, especially as you head south. Delaware State Parks allow alchohol too. No alcohol in NJ State Forests is stupid but it will never change. Because it is illegal, no one wants to get caught with an empty so it contributes to the trash...

    Nature's Sand Art

A dozen beers sounds like a good start ! Actually I have no explanantion beyond mineralization and the leaching and accumultaion of materials from the upper profile to the cementitious layers below. As I said above, I only pretend to have expertise. Actually I had a year's worth of geology at...

    Nature's Sand Art

Oh my beerded sage, there are in fact concretions throughout the pit wall profile. If only I could impart a tactile component to the photos. The darker material in the lower profiles is sharp edged and as solid as a rock or a concretion as the case may be. The proper leaching conditions...

    Nature's Sand Art

You wouldn't be able to afford your humble concrete patio if the aggregate came from the ocean floor Sonny. It's a much shorter and economical haul from a local pit in Lacey than it is from Davey Jones' locker. As for trees, I say nuke 'em. That goes for whales too. Oh yeah, and snakes...

    Nature's Sand Art

Ain't you a geology gradgiate? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concretion Some of the concretions placed aside in this pit are the size of Volkswagon Bugs.

    Nature's Sand Art

I took these photos a few weeks ago in a gravel pit that I used to terrorize on my CR-480 back in the 80's. The pit is still very active and I have always been fascinated by simple coastal plain geology and gravel operations in particular. I couldn't help but poke around a little...

    Beer (again)

My oldest son bought me a Canal's mix and match for Father's Day and it contained the Holy Grail of ales, DogfishHead 120 minute. $8.00 for a 12 oz. bottle but everyone should try it at least once. Almost like brandy and incredible. He threw in a Belzebuth, a Boulder Beer, a Southern Tier, a...

    Music for the day

This is a great drinking or motorcycle ridin' song but under the right circumstances, what ain't ? I said or, not and. :) This video is from a long time ago and the later versions have a different edge.

    Sweetwater Casino Tiki Bar Open

The bride and I rode the Harley down there last Tuesday night. They were finishing up the carpentry. It appears to be attached to the store/gift shop. Should be a nice spot for a cocktail or four by the mighty Mullica.

    Music for the day

Love him, hate him or think that he should have went to jail (like I do), I think we need a moment of silence for one talented mofo, Michael Jackson. RIP

    Music for the day

Agreed, my beerdedman. There is no other like him. However, I could stare into this woman's beautiful eyes while she sings the same song until the cows come home. I saw this the night she did it on the Cash tribute after his death. An indelible memory my friend.
