    who knew?

The movie RAMBO got its name from the early Swedish settlers in "New Sweden" who had the surname Rambo. The most prominent being John Rambo. I am trying to figure out where his house would have stood...

    High Crossing never disappoints

That truck does not look anywhere near close enough to being able to cross that hole. Wonder what the driver was thinking.

Train Derails in S. Jersey (Paulsboro)

I live 1 mile from the wreck. Other than it being like a war zone in town, it has not really affected us too much. Noone asked me to evacuate and I have not smelled any chemicals. OEM, fire, police from all local municipalities all over town and news vans camped out too.

Sensitive land in Medford and Shamong

See, I don't understand the preservation rules. I once called the Green Acres office and spoke to one of the administrators. He told me any property acquired with Green Acres funding requires that "reasonable public access" be made to the property. He also told me that no "no trespassing"...

    king's highway and tatem oak

http://archive.org/stream/notesonoldglouce01stew/notesonoldglouce01stew_djvu.txt If you search that page for "The King's Highway", the story is a fascinating read about the early life and inhabintants of the area. It mentions Tatem Oak and it appears it was once the 4th largest oak in NJ. I...

    on the road to Carranza

Brings up a lot of questions for me too. Is "suresue"'s old house of historical significance? Who is the current property owner or the large piece of land? Just up the road from there is "johnson place". What is it and is it worth exploring?

    King's Hwy tollgate

You beat me to it but I found the map (1877 Hopkins map). I actually went to a yard sale at the house just across Kings Hwy from the location of that tollgate and they did have a few small buildings on the property. Perhaps one of them was the toll house.

    tench francis property

It is indicated on an old map as "Paradise". Curiously, there is an indication of a Graveyard not too far from there. Looks like it was possibly where I-295 runs presently?
