    Old Mine Road open

Meant to upload this earlier today. Here's a pic of the old stone farmhouse I saw on Old Mine Rd. north of Kuhn.

    Old Mine Road open

I wonder if the tick population is different up around the lake due to the elevation change, or temperature differences? On Sunday I was down in the valley the whole way, and there were a lot of them. I used to visit that same little store (they called it a deli, but as far as I can tell that...

    Old Mine Road open

I'm not sure why the road up to Crater Lake is closed, Boyd. Haven't been up that way in years. I wouldn't doubt it's the same general deterioration that you see throughout the park's road system. The last couple of winters haven't been kind, and in any case other than the public facilities down...

    Upcoming Outage: Site Maintenance

Thanks, Ben, and Boyd. That makes sense. I do have a gallery on Zenfolio I pay for, so I could link there as well.

    Old Mine Road open

We had a thread here a few months back regarding the gate across Old Mine Road in the DWGNRA. The gate was located just north of the intersection with Kuhn Rd., and blocked off the section through Ennis Rd. I had a chance to get up there over the weekend and was thrilled to find the gate has...

    Upcoming Outage: Site Maintenance

Yeah, I tried it a couple of different ways, including deleting the cookies. First time since 2005 that I even recall seeing a login for the gallery.

    Upcoming Outage: Site Maintenance

Thanks, gave it a try, including deleting the cookies. Still didn't work with my forum creds.

    Upcoming Outage: Site Maintenance

Hey Ben, I tried to upload a couple of pics this evening and wasn't able to log in to the gallery. I logged in to the main boards fine, but when I clicked over to the gallery it showed me as logged out, and attempts to log in with my creds from the main site resulted in "invalid login." Any ideas?

Poor Peggy Clevenger: Murder or Just an Accident?

Certainly it was very popular in the form of Laudanum, although I don't know whether keeping up a habit would have broken her finances. As for the colliers and others who worked in the barrens, temperance movement aside, I'm convinced they would have been steady drinkers. Life in those...

Just in time for BBQ season

Yeah, those things are amazing. I've heard of "tiger prawns" in the past in a culinary sense. Not sure if these are the same thing. But that's a lot of meat. If it's good to eat then maybe we should think of them as a new resource.

    Say it ain't so

If that image was really issued by the developers to illustrate their vision, then I wouldn't worry too much. That has fail written all over it.

    Tick warning

Ticks and chiggers are two species I would happily eradicate, and to hell with the circle of life. Throw stinkbugs in as well, simply because I'm going to hear "ooohhh, stinkbug, Daaaaaaddddd!" about 2000 times this summer.

    Ocean Spray

As much as I love this state, it's pretty much the last place I'd try to start or operate a business. Let's face it, we're a place for New York and Philly commuters to sleep.

Seeking historical background on lower Mullica river life, mid-18th century

Pinelandpaddler and I were tramping about the muddy banks of Cakes Spruto last Sunday, as a matter of fact. Saw a few interesting things. He felt "Spruto" had something to do with a Dutch or Swedish word, don't recall which. I picked up "Heart of the Pines" while I was down there. As others...
