    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

you can build them as small or large as you'd like. it could be a small one big enough for only a few people. the lodges i've been in have been large enough to accomodate 75ish people. i'm not entirely sure where i'm going to make one.. somewhere on flat , open ground. a few friends of mine are...

    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

haha jumping in a stream is optional :] the lodge is not built around the fire, the fire is outside of the lodge. the rocks are brought in from the fire into the lodge. the sweat lodge's armiture is dome shaped and made of saplings. tons of blankets and tarps cover the armiture to keep the heat...

    Mullien

if you use mullien more than you should, you become allergic to it. it's the plant's way of saying back off.. once you develop the allergy, it doesn't go away.. so use sparingly! yvonne we learned that from mike last night ^_^

    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

That sounds like a wonderful program. And yes, traditionally it is preferred to have materials which are close to the area where the lodge is built and conducted, especially the grandfathers. Personally I do believe that bringing in rocks from a different location could work out alright, maybe...

    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

Bruset, I misunderstood you. I do not think that bringing water is the greatest survival skill. I do agree that lack of water is one of the greatest problems you may encounter. As long as you know how to utilize nature well, you can produce water for yourself in many ways, such as building a...

    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

I agree bruset.. bringing water is no where near the best survival skill for the Pine Barrens. This is not a notion that TBJ preaches. A Sweat Lodge is a dome-like structure that was used by many cultures, especially Native Americans. It's armiture is made of saplings woven and tied together...

    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

Tom Brown Jr.. what a man. I have read many of his books and am scheduled to attend my first Standard Course at Tracker School this Spring. I know that he has a Sweat Lodge course, but you must first take a Philosophy course as a prerequisite. Not to mention each class is around $900! Yow...

    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

Greetings all, I was wondering if anyone knows of any Sweat Lodge groups in the NJ Pinelands. I've been searching but have been unsuccessful in finding anything. Even if there are no groups to be found, lets make one! Anyone who is a fan of Sweat Lodges or would like to learn more about them...
