New book on the Jersey Central RR?

Well, if you ever into the market for a used car in EXCELLENT condition, just let me know. As much as I don't want to sell it, my wife has been nagging me for years to sell it as it's just sitting in my garage for several years. I have a 1991 Mercury Cougar XR7 with many options and only 55K...

New book on the Jersey Central RR?

Guy, Excellent Pics (I like the picture of the tower). I wanted to upload mine but I don't want to take up too much disk space on Ben's server and trains doesn't seem to have much appeal here, I believe, so I will be spending the next several days uploading my shots to either my ISP or a...

New book on the Jersey Central RR?

Guy, The tracks that crossed Savoy Blvd are gone. I believe the county must have either removed or repaved this road as of last year as I remember seeing them last year. I know you're correct as being a Smelting Plant at one time since the girl who sells hotdogs in the center of Chatsworth...

New book on the Jersey Central RR?

Guy, Thanks for the links. Sounds tempting but I will wait until the CNJ Festival in September to see what I can find. Several years ago I picked up the Trail of the Blue Comet for only $55; I've seen them go as high as $70. Thanks to your directions, I found the CNJ switch near Pasadena...

    Ongs Hat

I believe you won't find any that but if you could speak to the people of NJ that lived here in the early 1900s, they would tell you something else. I would also guess that the people in the early 1900s didn't believe in witches that people did in the late 1600s/early 1700s.

    Ongs Hat

It's still fun to read about it and I guess that's what makes them write more books and *try* so hard to make movies on our local devil.

    Apple Pie Hill

Jello, I will be taking a vacation week down there within the next several weeks so if you're still interested in exploring let me know. BTW, I attended the CNJ Picnic in Martinsville and met up with some former CNJ/Conrail employees. Some of the CNJ employees started work in the 1940s and...

    Southern Railroad of NJ

As the article mentions, I think many people under 40 have yet to see tracks being put down but there are exceptions. Southern RR of NJ to acquire two new customers if they get approval to place down the tracks...

    Mystery animal

That depends on how many of them you see. I haven't see one here in Sussex County but I've seen many Bears which I now consider boring along with the Deer that use my lawn for a Johnny-on-the-spot :x

HOW MUCH LONGER TILL CHIGGER TIME

After exploring the Pines last year in the summer, I have learned my lesson. I always save at least 10 days of vacation for the fall. BTW, doesn't this discussion belong in the Bug Reports, Problems and Suggestion forum  I can see how Chiggers would apply to all of them. Also...

I think you're right. I just wish I could've had something that would've utilized the Nav system but I checked with the company this morning and they said No but they are offering enhanced maps. Unfortunately, they sell them by the region and go for $115 for each CD. What is a good mid-range...

That's true The street Atlas is pretty good. I also use it to find abandoned and active RR line as well. I wish they had something for that would work with the NAV system that I have in my Expedition. It's okay but I wish the company that made it for Ford would offer something in addition.

    Any Good Wild Cherry Recipes?

I thought so. You answered a question that I posted on the Railfan site about Easton and the retired Lehigh Valley freight station. Since you have interest in both the Pine Barrens and Trains, I thought you should know that I've contacted Mike from the South jersey Rail group to see if he can...
