Head out to Colliers Mills this afternoon / Colliers Mills North 5-12-07

Colliers Mills North 5-12-07 I set out from work today to explore the area north of Route 528 which is another massive expanse of Colliers Mills. It was a little cloudy as I was coming south on Route 539 but as I left Wawa the sun came out and "In the Pines" by Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass...

Head out to Colliers Mills this afternoon / Colliers Mills North 5-12-07

Hey everyone. I'm working right now :jeffd: but I should be down in Colliers Mills around 2:00 or so. I'll be exploring the area between Reed Road and Veteran's Highway. There are a couple of interesting looking abandoned bogs that I want to check out. Anyone been in that area before?

    Ft.Dix Plot Filed

This is exactly what I was talking about in my last post. You can't just say that the guy running the gas station is automatically a terrorist because he A: runs a gas station, B: has brown skin, and C: has dark hair. It's not that simple. From CNN: Agron Abdullahu, 24, of Buena Vista...

Next to last episode of the Sopranos named "Blue Comet"

Coincidence? I think not-David Chase rarely does anything for no particular reason. The Blue Comet ran through the pinelands-will the Russian return? Will Adriana's death come back to haunt the family? It was never implied that Adriana was killed in the pines, but as it's been shown in the...

For the railfans (Not PB related)

Funny you should mention it. I don't really know much about it, but I was Googling the C&A for info and found a print of a pencil drawing entitled "Wreck on the Camden and Amboy Railroad Near Burlington." According to the description of the print, 21 were killed and 75 were injured. No...

    Trip to Round Valley

Next time you're up there check out Spruce Run as well. Also a huge reservoir and a gorgeous area. It's just to the west of Round Valley on the opposite side of Route 31.

    Ft.Dix Plot Filed

Perhaps what is most scary is that some of these guys were flying pretty far below the radar for one reason-they were Eastern/Central European and not Arab. At least 3 of the 6 were from the former Yugoslavia. Although that part of Europe has a large Muslim population its just not where we...

For the railfans (Not PB related)

Today I decided to talk a walk along the freight line which runs past about a mile from my house. As a kid I never knew much about it besides the fact that the crossing was located close by and once in a great while you'd get stuck when a train would pass. I also remember hearing the low moan...

    Sunrise Affordable Homes?

All good advice, thanks. I've since found another company called Simplex ( www.simplexhomes.com ) in Scranton that has more of an extensive website, been in business 35 years, etc... No pricing, but I requested some information. Bob Vila actually used the company to build a summer home...

    Sunrise Affordable Homes?

Anyone here ever heard of Sunrise Affordable Homes? They're a modular (not mobile...no jokes please :v: ) home dealer in Vineland. Not to ramble, but my gf (soon to be fiancee) and I are going to eventually relocate to the Hunterdon County area. Yes, yes, I know EXPENSIVE!!! She landed a...

What dangerous animals live in the pines?

In the vistor's center of the Great Swamp (Morris County Great Swamp) there is a little cabinet that says "Open to see the most dangerous animal in the swamp!" When you open it there's a mirror inside-so true...

Some input on buying a winch

I would say 4000lbs would do it-and you should have at least one tow point under the front of the car. This would be the same place a tow truck would hook to in order to pull the car up on a flatbed. Check your owner's manual.

Some input on buying a winch

If by "car" you really mean a car you're not going to have much luck with a winch. You won't find any pre-fab mounts for anything that's not a truck or a Jeep, and even getting one made up would be tough. Cars weren't meant to have anything mounted on the front of them. I would go with Guy's...

    Governor Corzine Crashes the Pines...Literally

No doubt Guy, definitely NOT a smart move on the Governor's part. In light of the speed they were traveling I honestly can't believe he's alive. It's not hard to find instances of people killed in crashes involving that kind of speed who WERE wearing seatbelts.

    Governor Corzine Crashes the Pines...Literally

I believe that the Whitman Administration took some flak for traveling at high speed on the Turnpike as well. Let's just say though that Corzine's motorcade was traveling at a leisurely 70 mph and a three cars came along side, one got in front, one paralleled, one got behind, and they started...

    Governor Corzine Crashes the Pines...Literally

I posted this over at www.the-jersey-devil.com but I'll put it up here too: I just heard the State Police spokesperson's statement about the accident. I'm paraphrasing here because I can't find it in print, but this is the gist of it: "You cannot allow the vehicle to be tailed, blocked...

    Tabernacle considers regulating firearms use

This is sad, maddening, and frustating all at the same time. We had a similar problem with NIMBYs moving into the area. A housing development was built abutting a farm in Hamilton and the residents who moved in got together and tried to force the farmer to stop using propane cannons to scare...
