Great photo. Nice to see that seals seem to be back on the rise in our area. I saw a harbor seal last year sunning itself in the Manasquan River right by the train bridge.

We heard a nearby Great Horned hootin the other night in Bamber. Seemed a little early, but Id recognize their distinct call anywhere. Didnt hear too many last year, but a lot of them the year before. If you call back, you can usually get them pretty darn close to you.

I really dont see the merit to this. I was glad they were making a comeback in NJ. I absolutely love to hear their howls when they're in the area. I can understand a farmer or livestock owner's want to kill them, but hunting/trapping them for sport or no reason is pretty lame IMO. Their pelts...
