    Widlife Management Area Milestone

The only authority figures I've seen (and heard of) are conservation officers. They're not rangers, but essentially they perform the same function I guess, although they concentrate more on enforcing fish and game laws like bag limits and such. I do know that they can ticket you for various...

    Photography Contest

Nice pics...I'm very very jealous... Spending today in the pines sure would have beaten plowing the parking lot at work today and dealing with the yuppies that felt it necessary to bring their kids to the rink and get in my way. I really wish I could show you video of one guy who found it a...

    Saturday Snow Storm

Sounds like you guys got a lot down there. A friend of mine works for an excavating company down in Hammonton and they have a lot of contracts around the area one of which is a HUGE office park that includes the offices of NFL films. They started around 2:00 this morning and were still at it...

    Saturday Snow Storm

Hehe...a man after my own heart. In addition to driving the Zamboni I also plow the lot at work. The boss has nothing but money so he went out and bought an '04 F-250 Super Duty (no diesel :( ) with an 8' Western plow/400 lb spreader. I'll be arriving at work around 3:00 a.m. to start...

    Tuckerton Road

Just out of curiosity do any of you guys carry a small compressor so you can air down a bit? I've always found that it helped immensely with a 4wd vehicle, I'm sure it would make a difference with 2wd as well. Just don't get too greedy and lose the bead...ask me how I know...lol

No more fun in the Pines

Wow, just browsing through this thread I learned some surprising stuff. I haven't been in the pines for a while but I never remember being harrassed like that! I saw a few posts that interested me-one about the rangers graduating from Sea Girt and one about them wearing big black boots and...

From the mouths of babes, well teenagers actually...

Thanks, I just wish I could teach some New Jersey history. Its a shame that in our state core content standards the history of the state gets a quick glossing over in 4th grade which is basically just the battles of Trenton, Monmouth, and Princeton. Once high school starts there's so much to...

From the mouths of babes, well teenagers actually...

So I've started my student teaching at a suburban high school here in North Jersey which shall remain unnamed. I decided to do an icebreaker activity that I learned a few years ago as a camp counselor to introduce myself and get the class talking. You pass around a roll of toilet paper...

Drinks at Toms River Fridays on 1/27?

All you have to do is ask your friendly neighborhood Zamboni driver

Drinks at Toms River Fridays on 1/27?

Quite simple really...honestly ice temperature depends very little on ambient temperature. Underneath the ice (which is about anywhere from 1 1/2" to 1 1/4" thick) is a concrete slab. Encased inside the slab is a grid network of either copper or steel tubing which carries a brine mixture...

A day in The Pines... *PICS 56K beware!*

You can go anywhere you need to go with that. For the most part people here aren't hardcore trail riders. Four wheeling is just a way to get where you need to go in the pines rather than the "main attraction" so to speak. I know that a lot of our members reach most spots with front wheel...

Are there any known caves in the Pines?

I can't think of any area I've ever seen in the pines that could be construed as a cave really. As a matter of fact I doubt you could find anything resembling a cave south of Hunterdon County. Heck when we were building our koi pond my father and I had to go scour some farmers' rock piles up...

Steer could still be roaming the Pines

Guy does have a point, the only way to get an animal that size out of the woods would be to quarter it and carry it out with the help of at least one or two other people. Of course if a portion of prime cut meat was promised to each one I'm sure they could be persuaded to keep their mouths shut.

Anyone been on a "Moonlight Walk" in Whitesbog?

I was poking around the Whitesbog site and saw the moonlight walking tours of the village and the bogs advertised. There's one coming up in February and I was thinking of going and taking the girlfriend. Has anyone been on one of these? Also, are there any working farms anyone knows of that...

Steer could still be roaming the Pines

Well either someone stocked their freezer with some steak or he's still on the loose somewhere. I guess there's plenty of open savannah for him to graze/roam, but I would imagine a cedar swamp or thick pines/briars would be tough for him to navigate-especially if he still has his horns. That...

Why you shouldn't drive a Maserati in the snow

Weeeeeeeell, the ice rink is sort of his "toy." He made his money in the business of importing cheap clothing from China and selling it at Target and Wal-Mart. So yes, my paycheck (and the car) is financed with sweatshop labor and questionable human rights practices.
