    Murphy Farm, Hammonton, NJ

The farm is actually on Fenimore Road just off of Ark Road. It's owned by the Murphy family, but I believe the land is leased to other farmers. My friend's boss, who is the son of the farm's owner and the owner of DJ excavating, keeps his equipment in the barns. It's a beautiful peice of...

    Murphy Farm, Hammonton, NJ

I caught a nice smallmouth, a few sunnies, and Jon got a crappie, but nothing spectacular. Supposedly there are some monster catfish in there, but we were using nightcrawlers and bobbers. Maybe next time I'll rig for bottom fishing and see what I come up with.

No problem-I wish they were better, but I took them with my cell phone.

    Murphy Farm, Hammonton, NJ

Murphy Farm, Hainesport, NJ Since I'm home from school for Easter break I went fishing with my friend Jon who works for an excavating company based out of Hammonton, NJ. The farm has a creek running through the property along with a spring fed pond. Yesterday we fished all afternoon. The...

    Anyone been to Cowtown Rodeo?

I've always wanted to go check it out. My aunt used to barrel race there in the early '80s, but I've never been. Looks like a good time, so I was thinking of checking it out this summer.

    Old pines documentary?

That's a good question now isn't it? lol To be honest I just went back to the website and checked-it doesn't say anything other than its a television program. I guess I got so excited about ordering it I forgot to check. I just assumed it was VHS! I really hope that it is otherwise look for...

    Old pines documentary?

Cool-I'm excited about it now since no one here has heard of it. Since the production date was 1972 I'm almost positive this is it because I had to have seen it around 1989 or 1990 on 16 mm film and it looked pretty dated then. As a (almost) social studies/sociology teacher the cultural...

    Bog Bodies

I think Ben is probably right. 50% of the footage for the Sopranos is filmed in northern NJ and the rest (mostly indoor shots) are done at Silvercup Studios in Queens. Only two hours from the real pines.

    Old pines documentary?

I was reading the thread about people being afraid of the pines at night which turned into people talking about school trips to the pines and whatnot. Does anyone know of a documentary about the pines that may have been shot by NJN in say the late '70s early '80s? Reading that thread made me...

    Bog Bodies

That really annoyed me. Why the hell couldn't they have just driven two hours (not even) down the parkway to film that episode? Every self respecting South Jerseyan should have wrote a letter...lol BTW David Chase stated in an interview with the Star Ledger that no one will ever see the...

ATV rider shot in North Jersey!

I actually worked with one of these guys for a while at the rink I work at in Wayne. They're scattered around the Mahwah, Butler, and Ringwood area. They're a pretty interesting group of people. I think the actual term is melungen or something like that because they are a mix of african...

    helmetta pond

Check this out... http://www.google.com/local?f=q&hl=en&q=helmetta,+new+jersey&t=k&ll=40.380617,-74.434283&spn=0.007715,0.021458 Certainly looks like an interesting area. Almost looks as though to the west of the lake there are neighborhood streets that have been overgrown. Maybe a...

    Question about Colliers Mills boundaries

Once again I'm wasting time at work on Google Earth. I was just wondering, what exactly are the boundaries of Colliers Mills? When I was younger we used to only hunt the area south of West Veterans Highway. Is the area north of it part of the WMA too? Specifically the area bounded by Hawkin...

St. Patrick's Day festivities at the Dublin Pub in Morristown

Just thought I'd post a few pics: Anyone planning on attending a good parade or two this weekend? Morristown does theirs a week early which is kinda nice because it gives you a chance to attend others the following week.

Random question about the appearance of water on google earth

When using google earth at work (my laptop can't handle it :( ) I notice that a lot of the water features (lakes, rivers, creeks, etc...) show up very dark. However some show up as a brilliant sky blue-why is that? The ones that are very blue seem like they may be gravel pits or otherwise man...

Dr Stills office up for sale

Glad to hear it. This site is just as important as any in the pines to preserve. Come to think of it, have you guys ever heard of there being towns in the pines that were all black enclaves at one time or another? I think I remember reading a thread about this a million years ago over at the...

    Strange lights over the Pines

Could it be the Southern (New Jersey) Lights? lol It's funny, until I watched "March of the Penguins" a while ago I never realized that the Aurora Borealis occured at extreme southern latitudes also. Not to hijack the thread but great movie for all ages...

    Widlife Management Area Milestone

I've also heard that they'll nail you for riding any power company ROWs that happen to run through any WMA property. Just FYI because I know that they tend to be popular with both four and two wheelers.
