    A ride South part 1

Your GULF station is Clyde Birdsall's old place. The tales it could tell, wow. True pines gold. And equipment... he had stuff the likes of which many have never seen. Some military stuff that never came out of the crate. Had an old 50's car in one of his garages with about 26 miles on it...

    Woodland targets off-road vehicles

I respect the other issues in your post, but I am not sure I can buy into this one. Overdevelopment is a significant problem. Littering goes without saying. Illegal dumping.... Let's compare. There is truth to disturbing the ecosystem and tirewash in puddles certainly disrupts things but...

Worked pretty darned good for Chicago. Anything the Who did in '89, they shouldn't have.

    New cd coming out...

Wow. Highly energetic. I did pic out quite a few influences in there. And no , that doesn't mean unoriginal. Not what I expected with the title and an N.J. woods theme. Now really, who could tell a familiar story of an old N.J. ghost town in such a lively manner. I have one local band...

    New Jersey trails plan

Agree completely. Yes, of course there are many trails. It is still worth the effort. A stakeout for a dumper could yield a large catch, like a siding or blockwork company that loves to save money by canning their jobsite refuse in the pines. Now that would trump a guy leaving his burger wrapper...

    Arid August wilts S.J. farms

Being in close proximity to Wharton as many here probably are in their respective areas, I would say, especially in this dry time... Be careful what you wish for. G.

    Stone bridge on the Mullica

The "theatre" is at the front of what was the mill proper I believe. When you travel on Pleasant Mills from 542 at the church the Lake Nescochague is on your right and the Mill to your left. You pass living quarters first and a stone wall follows around to where the "playhouse" is. It's very...

    Stone bridge on the Mullica

It is Tidal, sometimes it seems a bit more than Barely when the tide is up. But yes, when I hug the sides I do fine regardless of the tide. With it behind you, You can really get crankin. The current outwards at that turn on the beach can get moving pretty good. It's also amazing the difference...

    Stone bridge on the Mullica

You are only a couple turns upriver of my Uncle's place by the bent creek section on that stretch. Looks like the water was low. Makes for a bugger of a trip! That bridge has always intrigued me as the two sides don't seem to match perfectly.Could maybe just be me. It must be an elevation issue...

    Corzine won't veto Pinelands project

Welcome Supercilious. Hope you enjoy the site. While I fear highly Development, and see it everywhere, I do find your projections slightly dark & depressing. Cheer up man! Boyd, I wouldn't exactly say the bubble is bursting, but yes these monsters and eyesores in the remote areas...

Welcome While it's not the General Discussion welcome thread.... I'll say, welcome newcomer. Enjoy the site, it's really got good people on it. Ben has created a very informative as well as amicable environment here. It's great to have many types of different perspectives to learn from. g.

    Got Stranded

Good idea given so many parties on this site. Jeff, I feel really bad as you got bumbled right in my stomping grounds and I live five minutes drive to the 206 entrance from there. I got a dune buggy pretty stuck back there about seven years ago. It can get nasty. I have made that walk to...

    Boothill Gunclub Trail

I would tend to agree with Jeff about the trail you were on, but... anything is possible. I may check it out next time I'm out there. I like it back that way and the kids Love the bogs. It's interesting to them as to how they work and there is no better way than to show them the intricacies of...

    High Tension Line

I believe the same restrictions apply to the entire run of the access roads. While they will save you some time in some travels there are enough trails to where it's not worth chancing using those. They are popular in ATV circles though.

    Quaker Bridge to Batsto

I am taking off every Monday from Next week until Mid October, making for 4 day work weeks. Aside from R&R, and getting some odds & ends done, this shall be one of my little "just for me" endeavors. Haven't done it since my CAMP-CANOE adventures of '92 & '93. Looking forward to a fall Monday...

    The Summit

Cool, I would actually pull a late fall gig. Close to home, kids might like it if they chose to come. ( kid's are great insurance against John Law. He may feel schmucky busting your Kahoonies in front of the littlins' ) As for now, I've been "Chigged" a time or two on simple walks so I'm...

Ever run into the "trouble" in the pines?

Have met some persons and seen some things over the years that have been somewhat disturbing. It seems that remoteness attracts this. As far as people gettin' friendly, intimate like, Too many times to list but heck, to each his/her own.
