    Fall

I am not a hiker. Like as not you will never see me on a 30 mile, 20 mile, or perhaps even a 10 mile hike. I applaud those here that do. I applaud their vigor and their stamina for that which is their passion. But I do like a good Walkabout. Fall... This is my time. I feel it not even...

    1st Time to Jemima Mt

Being off today, I was just again down the Wharton Ave moments ago scouting trash of which there is plenty. With all due respect, yes there are passes, but passes just make for more damage and to be honest, many of your "passes" barely suit my Quad. It's easy enough for me to navigate but...

    1st Time to Jemima Mt

Out riding this Morn' early, 7:00 I took this stretch of "Wharton Ave". After the State did the deed I've been down it but not until after some good rain and the formentioned "4X4 KIDS" did it occur to me just how bad this turned out! Absolutely useless !! To the state persons who decided this...

    Spungs

Snoop around a little on the Camden County Historical Society site. Good, good stuff on waterways, streams, ponds, swamps, lakes and such. Mostly compiled by Boyer so some information is a little dated . Spungs/Spongs are noted. G.

    Wild turkey?

I've had a mess of hens hangin out my way for awhile. No sign of a Tom. Took a look at them. They weren't that put out & trotted slowly just so as to keep a little space between us. Loped into the Clark/Woas branch behind me. About 13 to 15 at the most. It's been neat having them about although...

    Pinelands Commission marks an anniversary

A "Pine Barrens" Hall of Fame derived from the Pinelands commision. The term Pinelands being a political term, it's not surprising a focus on political types. They got it all wrong. A legitimate list would include many, I won't even try to start where, parties that are more PineBarrens...

    Litter in the pines!

While I do agree with you, I often visit the same haunts and sometimes look for areas that are trashed to see their latest saddened state. A reminder of sorts. Morbid in it's own way I suppose. One day I would like to spy a repeat offender.

    5 years ago today....

I was at work, and my wife called frantic about the first report and was in hysterics as she watched the second occur live while speaking to me. I couldn't quite grasp it. It had to be a mistake. Then the phones lit up in my work and everyone was getting the same. I don't really have the right...

    Wharton

NASCAR - I am aware of no hiking but last year was my only involvement so I would not be the authority. Seems like the fellow above has about as much info as you would need. The basic contact info seems to be the same I gave. All I can say is... Please come out. G.

It is not King if that's who you are thinking of but he does post on that site occasional I believe. He did not seem familiar with this site when I mentioned it. I am sure your help would be very welcome.

    Quaker Bridge to Batsto

Today Did the Q/B to the Lake. Weather could not have been nicer for it. My dad took a ride to drop me off and for pick up. I wasn't shooting for any speed records but all in all it took me 3-1/2 hours exact point to point. The water on the upper river was really moving. That and a good breeze...

    Wharton

Bob, It's not really my gig so I don't know. I can guess that hosting the event is a lot of work for them to accomodate it for the good folk that participate. I also understand that it costs hundreds of $$$ and Mike puts forth a lot of effort in getting sponsors for it. The festivities of...

    Wharton

Thanks to another member and his website I confirmed the Wharton cleanup date. I will not soapbox the issue in itself. It has appeared on countless threads and it is obvious that everyone here cares. I will soapbox the event though. I only ask this. Please come out. Last year I was only out...

    "Ticked Off"

I have not had one tick on me this summer and have seen very few, even on the dog. Just some on the pants here and there. Kids good too. Chiggers made up for it though. G.

    Chigged.

I too have been chigged this summer. All part of the program I guess. All three of my kids have been nailed. And my wife has given me the appropriate raft of you know what about it. My daughter is the best though. Because she can roll in Poison Ivy and not get it she thought she was invincible...

Towers of Fire: Iron Production in the Pine Barrens

I am not sure but I believe there was the occasional issue of Cannons and like equipment that failed almost immediately in use due to this issue. Tests indicated the need for heavier material thicknesses and such.
