    Great music

James' thread on the self-tuning guitar reminded me that I wanted to share something with you guys. My brother sent me a link to this site, which some of you may have visited before. It's called Wolfgang's Vault, and one section of it is named the "Concert Vault."...

    Self Tuning Guitar

It's funny, but that idea is something that friends of mine and I have been kicking around for fifteen years. I knew eventually technology would catch up and provide the small, powwerful servomotors and sensors to make it work. I'm not sure, really, whether it's a great idea, but it was an...

    Forked River Mountains

For my wife's graduation from nursing college last spring I bought a half barrel of Yuengling. My God that beer is good out of the tap from a fresh keg. It's so good that the price is sort of spooky. Like it's a long-term plan to get the whole country buzzed... or something.

    Best thing I saw today...

I'm not sure I'd be happy if some random guy took my picture and posted it on the web. But then I'd probably never know about it :), and as I am not a pretty girl (or even a pretty guy), it ain't likely to happen. But I will say you do have good taste.

    Sweat Lodges in the Pines?

I think I'm hearing shades of "Iron John." Did you guys ever read that? I'll have to go dig it off the bookshelf and see who wrote it, since I can't remember.

Weird electronic mishaps in the pines

Hmm, it all seems to fit.

    A Day in the Pines

Interesting. First I have heard of that name for it. Great pics, Jim. I went looking for Red Oak Grove a couple of months back on a trip to the Union Clay site, and never found it. You've inspired me to go back.

Ong's Hat to Forked River Mts

Thanks for the additional details, woodjin. It seemed to me that the pit was in the same area as well, and so I was thinking that at some point people just decided to take advantage of it, and started chucking stuff in. It goes back a long way into the woods.

    Atsion questions

I've seen plenty of the green slag up around Martha. Not sure what determines the colors.

Things that shouldn't be done in the Pines.

I think you made the right call on those occasions when you had your son with you. Unfortunately confrontation is confrontation, regardless of how petty the offense that starts it off. In fact there might almost be an inverse relation between the pettiness of the offense and the reaction of the...

    Somewhat Disturbing

Yeah, I noticed this a couple of weeks ago when I was researching something. This site consistently camped the top two or three links.

A funny (or maybe sad) read

Brought to you by Lord Rick: Crusader for the Truth! The guy's a real piece of work. He has script in there to disable highlighting and copying text, photos, etc. Because you know, everyone is after his secretz. My favorite line from the page I posted: "Nov.2006-Feb 2007: PGS receives about...

A funny (or maybe sad) read

Warning: the following post contains completely irrelevant information that can do nothing more positive than confirm your already low opinion of Some People. I was trying to find information on the brick plant at Brooksbrae last night and stumbled on this "diary" of a trip to the Pine...

Ong's Hat to Forked River Mts

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll be heading back to try and find at least the cellar depressions and the sawmill ruins near Mary Ann. Yeah, I think it was a lot safer than our tired state of mind admitted at the time. It's narrow, and has a nice dip in it, but honestly it didn't even creak...

Ong's Hat to Forked River Mts

What a beautiful day for exploring in the pines. Crisp, clear weather. No bugs. Dry conditions. Couldn't have rolled it up better if I had tried. We started at Ong's Hat and went in on Turkey Buzzard Bridge Rd. Had a look at a large clearing just past the intersection with Mile Ery Brook Rd...

    Penn Place

That poor Maxima is like a thoroughbred put out to plow. That car has as much place in the woods as I have in polite New York society.
