    Where is this?

You go from nearly impossible to too easy, Guy. I won't respond so someone else gets a chance to guess.

    Where is this?

I'm thinking this is in the iron mountains near hampton gate but those rocks don't look like sandstone in the photo. But if this was taken in the pines....I've only seen sandstone that large.

The lost and forgotten Sandy Ridge Station

I don't recall any and I know I've found a bunch of them, but if that is the case then perhaps this area was nothing but a saw mill.

The lost and forgotten Sandy Ridge Station

over in this area somewhere is a pit that is indictive of a sawmill pit but I didn't find any base for the saw http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.75579737924717&lng=-74.60397373538495&z=20&type=hybrid&gpx= over here also, no base but a typical sawmill depression...

The lost and forgotten Sandy Ridge Station

Yes, I did notice that. Are you thinking saw dust mound? It would not surprise me, however, the brick work seems very odd for a saw mill base. There might be overlapping histories there. the brick foundation might preceed the sawmill. I think that Jerseyman said that sandy ridge station...

The lost and forgotten Sandy Ridge Station

I had thought of that Gibby, the one depression depicted in photo #6 was very indictive of a saw pit, but i've never seen a saw mill foundation made out of brick that I can recall. It also very much appeared as a wall within the depression. Do really think it is too far away to be a station (I...

    Dead Rattlesnake

Well, it was around a curve and if the biker was really cooking and the snake was on the shoulder partially in the grass it is a remote possibility. But I would suspect the snake would have gotten out of the way in time. Perhaps if a car was passing at the same moment as the bike the snake was...

    Raccoons

Jack (my seven year old) and I were out in the woods this weekend and came across four young raccoons. It was cool for me and very exciting for him. They went straight up into the trees and I got some great video, and some photos too. Two in a tree

    Dead Rattlesnake

you know, it is interesting that you mention that, Al. I wondered that also for these reasons; 1)the chances of being struck in the head by an automobile(less than 10% of his body mass) seems unlikely, possible, but unlikely. 2)If your head gets run over it is usually instant death...so how did...

    Dead Rattlesnake

This rattlesnake met an unfortunate end on route 532. It looks like it's head was crushed. I know we don't usually post pics of dead animals but this is not very grusome.

    Abandoned racetracks.

Bringing an old thread back to life...I had a new student and as I was finding his address on aerials I noticed this. http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.82398555034193&lng=-74.79671794574739&z=17&type=hybrid&gpx= I checked historical aerials. It was not there in 1956 but appears in 1963...
