    Kodak

Poor Eastman Kodak, their stock is trading at $0.67/share this morning and they have been warned by the NY Stock Exchange that they could be de-listed. When I lived near Rochester in upstate NY, I knew people who worked there and it was quite an impressive place. Now it's a mere shadow of its...

    Frost tonight?

According to the National Weather Service, some areas could see scattered frost. Interesting, because the forecast low temperature seems pretty consistent in Southern NJ (~37 degrees). No frost warning when I look at Port Republic, Bass River or Millville, but Chatsworth, Mays Landing and Egg...

Outdoor stuff marked way down at Lowes

Was just in the Lowes in Egg Harbor and noticed they had moved a lot of their "outdoor" stuff into a temporary location to sell it off at the end of the season. Don't know if these are available everywhere, but might be worth a look if you are in one of their stores. I got a wireless digital...

    Mosquitoes

In another thread (can't find it now), Guy mentioned that he was in an area a couple days ago where the mosquitoes were terrible. Yesterday I started to notice that they are getting terrible here in my own woods as well, which seemed a little odd for this time of year. I guess we can thank the...

    Earthquake?

I think we just had an earthquake here. It shook my house very noticeably, could feel floor shake, walls shook, the table actually rocked back and forth! Was listening to the financial news on the radio from NYC and they also mentioned it . Wow, that's about the strongest one I've ever felt in...

    Farewell to Borders

This is a shame, but not a big surprise. The Borders at Hamilton Mall was the only large book store near me. Now I would have to drive 40 miles to get to the closest Barnes and Noble, and I wonder whether they will eventually meet the same fate anyway...

Time to check your sump pump

According to the NWS, we have the potential for over 2" of rain during the next 24 hours. It's been dry down here, so I'm kind of looking forward to this (don't have a basement and live on higher ground). But getting two inches in less than an hour could be a problem for just about everyone...

Bunch of new outdoor products from Garmin

Garmin has been rolling out a lot of new stuff recently - details are still coming in. But here's a quick rundown, in case anyone is in the market for a new GPS: New eTrex line -it's been a long time since they updated these. They are attractive looking - pushbutton interface instead of...

Garmin BirdsEye now offers USGS topo's

This is nice, since it lets you load USGS 24k maps for the whole state, unlike the "custom maps" that I've posted that are limited to about 20x20 miles. Separate subscription from the aerial imagery though, so you need to spend $30. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=255&pID=98816

    Feb 17, 2011: 75 degrees and sunny

Unbelievable - that's what my porch thermometer says and it is short sleeve weather here. The whole way home from Philadelphia on the Expressway the air temperature was showing 69 degrees. Enjoy it while you can - hope that others have a chance to get outside for a bit also!
