    97th Carranza Memorial Service

That is actually a piece of the recovered airframe, I was told. Also, the man speaking is Venustiano Carranza, a grandson of the President of Mexico with the same name. I believe Emilio was his great uncle.

    Years Ago Today

20 years ago this evening, over 13 inches of torrential rain fell on parts of Burlington County, in some places at a rate of more than 3 inches per hour. This led to a "100-year" flood event. Along the Rancocas Creek and Batsto River basins, 28 dams were damaged and 17 were completely...

That looks like a very accurate polygon, nicely done. Satellite imagery from yesterday: 07/06/24 11:06AM ET 07/06/24 11:54AM ET Imagery copyright Planet Labs, Inc.

    Wildfire at Tea Time Hill

Given the timing of when it probably started, my first thought was fireworks, but of course that is pure speculation. Only 20% chance of any rain overnight tonight. It is up to 60% tomorrow afternoon, although even then, only 0.1 - 0.25" in the forecast...

    Tax Parcel Website

Looks like that's correct. It just means that if you enter, you have to follow the regulations of the refuge you're in. I definitely didn't know this either. (From here)

    Gritty in Wharton

Gritty is indeed very popular and I would, in my own humble opinion of course, certainly classify him as a cultural icon in the region. I do not follow hockey at all, but I know Gritty well. His popularity may just not intersect all that well with this particular forum. That said - I don't...

    The Prince of Chatsworth

This is a really impressive and well-written essay - cheers and thank you for posting it. This is front page material - I think those should make a comeback. It looks like you have done more thorough research on this topic than a lot of authors who published books that cover this. Of course...

    Spring/Summer Flora

Just to the northeast of Batsto, along the Batona. You are absolutely right - it does indeed have thorns; I missed this when taking photos. Although, they are thorns of a different kind. Whereas sand blackberry has those classic rose thorns on the stems, these are more like modified branches...

    Missing Woman

I thought this was odd too. I would guess that the underlying reason is because, even though the Wawa is southeast of the 70/72 circle, which should put it in Woodland Township, it officially describes itself as being in Vincentown: https://www.wawa.com/locations/0388 Even some sources for...

    Spring/Summer Flora

Hmm. I don't think I can see it being sand blackberry. It looks like R. cuneifolius has prickly stems, which this did not. This has sturdy, woody stems. My best guess was Crataegus uniflora, maybe. It shows up in Howard Boyd's book, anyway. And it has some local observations.

    "Not What You Think" Oak

Just following along as I'm trying to learn a bit and I find this interesting. Especially that they probably got the identification wrong! I think the professor was likely correct. The acorns look more like Shumard Oak. Seems like another way to tell would be to look at the terminal buds...
