    Indian Chief Tavern

I've heard rumors for many years that ShopRite was going to put a liquor store there, but it never happened. Maybe it'll go forward now that the tavern has been demolished.

    Northern Lights Over the Pines

A bonus phenomenon: comet C/2023 A3 over the Pine Plains just after sunset last night. After this month it won't be back for about 80,000 years.

    Batsto Country Living Fair

I wish they would run the sawmill again during the festival. I used to enjoy that more than the big steam engine portable saw that they bring out to cut the cedar shingles.

    Closing West Mill Road

Ironic, because the whole premise of granting him the exclusive license to the road was that it's supposedly the main access to his business...

    Northern Lights Over the Pines

I thought I might have to wait a lifetime for this to happen. An unforgettable evening.

    Where is this?

I think it's this: Photo from 2021 - but I think this one has been there for a while. Do I get 10,000 points? :) As to where yours is, I have no idea! It looks like it has endured some buck shot.

    Where is this?

Yes, I went back there recently and saw that too. The same morning I met Fred Miller. It's sad. I think it was only a matter of time, though. The tree looked half dead last year. At least I got some nice shots while it was still standing.

    Exploring The Recent Burn

That seems like a long time for the fire to keep going. I guess it's in part due to how dry it has been? Great snake photos and video.

    Clear Morning

I was out early this morning - I am loving the lower temperatures. There is a little bit of autumn on the air. While I was admiring the eagles I ran into cranberry grower Fred Miller, which I suppose is a clue as to the general area. He was very friendly and we had a short, pleasant...

    NJ blueberries 2024

No, definitely not tart at all. Very sweet with intense jammy blueberry flavor. This is the kind you ideally want for baking, at least in my humble opinion.

    NJ blueberries 2024

Nah, they were picture perfect - they got bumped around a bit in the cooler on the way back. It was a lot of road miles.

    Pitch Pine

Interesting. I will pay more attention to this, then.

    Pitch Pine

This can't be all that rare, right? I remembered taking a photo with a few of these back in 2022, after the big fire in Wharton.

    NJ blueberries 2024

I've got a confession to make... I buy local Hammonton blueberries every year, and do enjoy them. I like supporting local farms! But...what I really crave are the little, sweet, jammy lowbush variety that you mostly find cultivated up north. I just returned from Maine with some of the last...

    Origins of Pestletown

I've been following along with this thread - this is all very interesting stuff and great research. I do not have a lot to contribute here, but I thought I could at least easily get a line out to the NJHC asking about the status of the historical marker. I got a response today: I followed up...

    Heat and Photos

I was thinking maybe some kind of knotweed, which is an aggressive invasive species, but I'm not sure it matches up with your photo.
