Hmm. I don't think I can see it being sand blackberry. It looks like R. cuneifolius has prickly stems, which this did not. This has sturdy, woody stems.
My best guess was Crataegus uniflora, maybe. It shows up in Howard Boyd's book, anyway. And it has some local observations.

That's interesting. Maybe I've always overlooked it. Whereabouts was it? Boyd said it has thorns.
A super nice surprise today, exploring streams in Bass River State Forest with Ron (Rooftree) and Mike Baker. I've been doing this for 30 years, and never saw an albino Arethusa before. We counted over 250 of this species in the usual color today.
Went back out today, and Ron Varnum found this one. Then I found another small one. I suppose it stands to reason, we counted over 900 in two days.

You are absolutely right - it does indeed have thorns; I missed this when taking photos. Although, they are thorns of a different kind. Whereas sand blackberry has those classic rose thorns on the stems, these are more like modified branches that come to a sharp point. I went back and looked at some other shots, and sure enough, there they are:
Another site you can see the white form of Blue-eyed grass is at Wells Mills Park, surrounding the rental canoes at lake's edge. Most are the more common blue form but the white ones are numerous enough to easily find. Photo is from yesterday. .

I don't think I've ever since the color pink on Rose Pogonia be carried into the vein on the bract.
I saw this funky Rose Pogonia a few years ago.
I found this Nicotiana tobacum growing in orderly rows in my backyard this morning. Odd.
I will certainly allow it to thrive until the beautiful pentagonal flowers bloom.

We were out scouting out a location for a future adventure and stopped at the Death Camas to check on them. About 7 of the stalks have been eaten by a deer but 7 or so still remain. It started to rain and then thunder right above us so we quickly left. Went to another location and it was still raining so we headed home.
