    Fries Mill

I know Al or someone will chime in with some more detailed history, but check out the LiDAR here https://boydsmaps.com/#16.82/39.424752/-74.913100/midatlidar/0.00/0.00 The last thing Bennett’s mill was used for was a cranberry bog which you can see by the hash marks shown here on the LIDAR and...

    Fries Mill

It seems Manumuskin was a settlement centered around the Fries Mill (where the workers lived etc.) I wonder if Manantico was a settlement similar to Manumuskin was centered around Clark's Mill and was abandoned after Clark's Mill was abandoned Manantico was too. Just a theory. I believe present...

I wish I could share the article about the passing of the mayflower descendant Louise Banks in 1931. It mentions her and her husband Wilson Banks owning 7000 acres in port Elizabeth and Manumuskin. It also mentions she worked as a telegraph operator in Manumuskin station which is where they...

Inventory of Active and Abandoned Sand and Gravel Mining Operations in NJ

Here is another one I forgot about that is even more interesting. From 1928. It mentions operations local to me with names still being used informally today such as Tavern Rock and NJ Silica Sand. It also mentions Menantico sand and gravel co being located at Clark’s Mill rather than at...

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

The field does have a gradual hill. The road to the left does have a steep hill. Used to be steeper but they took some off the top at some point long ago when it was repaved. https://boydsmaps.com/#16.87/39.407572/-74.992214/mbx3dspectrum/-6.87/0.00

Old Sandstone Mine on the 1870 Vermeule Topo Map

Very cool. Behind my parent's house in Vineland is a field that has hundreds of these stones around the edges of the field from the farmer removing them while working the field.

    Turkey

I was recently in Moccasin Lake Park in Clearwater they have 2 injured bald eagles that would not survive if released back to the wild. Anyway getting to see those birds up close was impressive. I’ve had plenty of turkey encounters while hunting but never bald eagles.

For what it’s worth they are allowed on state Fish and Wildlife land as long as the motors are 750 watts or less.

    Tar Kiln Locations?

https://maps.app.goo.gl/w3k5gGGfQmEk7H1cA Interesting:) here is the link where I saw it marked on google. Looks like someone incorrectly marked it on google but it is a possible coincidence that this incorrect trail has tarkilns right off of it. I will have to take a walk down this incorrectly...

Yesterday I was looking at google maps in the area of Jones Mill(the one near Port Elizabeth) and noticed a newly marked trail in google maps named Tarkiln Bog trail so of course had to check out the LiDAR. https://boydsmaps.com/#17.91/39.317018/-74.935996/mbx3dmidatl/11.92/0.00 here are a few...
