    New Mid-Atlantic NAIP series

Yeah, the shape of each of those Atlantic County vintage aerials is different and they all have overlaps into other counties.

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

It is just now arriving here, light rain. I just came in from being in the woods until dark, waiting for the storm to arrive. It sounded ominous a number of times with loud thunder that echoed and rumbled for a long time. Then one very bright lightning flash and really loud thunder clap, seemed...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

All over here, I ended up between the two warning areas! It rained steadily for awhile, but I've seen a lot worse. No wind at all, no thunder. Whole storm is moving out to sea, tornado warnings are over except for one in Southern Delaware.

I see! But I am literally right on the edge of the warning. There's another warning to the North now too...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I really wonder what's going on with the NWS in Mount Holly. Now they have taken down that severe weather map and replaced it with.... precipitation probabilities for November. :ninja: I mean... seriously? Have they been doge'd? Meanwhile, we have a severe thunderstorm watch from their...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

It's weird that today's forecast doesn't even mention severe weather or high winds... Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 3pm. Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Light southeast wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Of course you're right, and I have considered those things over the years. But I try to level it out and account for the slope. I also compare with the NWS estimates and am usually pretty close. That Rutgers map suggests I had around 2", and that could be right, but the wheelbarrow was much...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I got a LOT more than an inch of rain here over the last 24 hours. Went out for an evening walk and was surprised to find my wheelbarrow almost full, looked like about three inches.

Exploring New Jersey’s Pine Barrens Forest: Its History, Culture and People.

This came up in a Google search for something completely unrelated. Never heard of the Evergreen Foundation before and don't recognize any of the many people in the stories. They're probably all well-known, I just don't know them (but I don't get out much). :D Only scrolled through this...

    New Mid-Atlantic NAIP series

Have just finished the expansion of the 2006 NAIP aerials to cover the entire mid-Atlantic region (4.7 million tiles). NAIP began work in 2003 and this map is basically their earliest aerials of the Northeast. For example, 2006 is the first year they have available for New Jersey. Quite a mixed...

    Music for the day

Just looking at the costumes of the women in the background, I'm struck by how much they resemble Star Trek female crew uniforms from the original series. Both the song and Star Trek date from 1966 - when I was a junior in high school! :D
