    Snake Question

A lot of snakes will rattle their tail like a rattler. I'm no expert but my guess would be that they do it to distract from their heads. If the end was in some dry leaves or something similar, it could have sounded like a rattler. You did the right thing, especially considering you were barefoot.

    Tick&Fleas

That is strange about the car insurance. Florida taxes are cheap, $1000 on a tract home of 1100 sf, at least here in Port Charlotte (about 90 miles south of Tampa) but it's Florida, lol. Too hot but too cheap to pass up. Good luck and congrats on the slice of heaven. :-)

    Rain

I'm curious; I was just watching the nightly news (I live in FL) and they said Atlantic City got 8" of rain from the latest storm. How is the flooding situation up there? I remember sometime in the late 90's that Galloway got 13" overnight from a cloudburst one summer and the flooding there was...

This is ashame yet so predictable

I don't think people are as lazy as they are foolish. Some people are just the trusting sort and unfortunately, they trusted these so called "experts". It's a sad lesson for trusting people to have to learn from the people who prey on that trust.

    First snow!

Pretty funny to read this thread now. Big change in attitudes. Everyone goes from excited kids to adults who need to get to work. Good luck with the next storm.

    Snow ??

Pancoast, Sorry, I don't know your first name but I wanted to ask; would you mind if I used your snowy trees pic as my wallpaper on my Florida computer? I haven't seen a flake and wish I could. Great pic by the way!

    Paranormal State

I missed it. Did they borrow the heat seeking radio controlled helicopter from "Monsterquest?" Shame they didn't film after the snow, they could have tracked it.

Good news; Paranormal State has investigated the Jersey Devil. I think it will be on next Tuesday. If anyone can solve the mystery, they can! lol

New Jersey: full of unhappy people?

I was born and raised in NJ and now live in the number three state (FL). Let me say, you can have Florida. NJ is a great place to live and grow up. I will definitely be back.

    Where is this?

That's exactly where that is Bill. I'm as far from an expert on the Pines as they come but Harrisville is my favorite place in the Pines and before moving to Florida, I spent a lot of time wandering out there. If you google maps that area, you can still see the canal and when you zoom in on...

    Jersey Devil Encounters?

Feel bad for the horse. Obviously, it was done by the Leeds child. I digress; Maybe it was a feral dog and the injuries to the back could have come from the barbed wire around the enclosure? I could see the horse trying to fight off the attacker while against the fence. Seems to me if a cat...

Anyone watching Ken Burn's America's National Parks?

I really didn't care about Ken Burn's politics, just his documentary making abilities. I think he is one of the best I have ever seen. The National Parks series is great. I especially loved the beginning stories of the first people besides the indians to try to explain the wonders of these areas.
