Sandy Hook is awesome. I've gone on 2 separate trips, and I found quite a bit the 2nd time around that I completely missed the first time. You can easily fill up a day there.

We drove to Carusoville today to get some new pics. A cop passed us, coming from Carusoville. Not really thinking about it, I waved and kept going. So we get there and I get 2 pics. I notice smoke coming out of one of the barrels (where kids normally have bonfires). I get back to the truck...

Those were pretty common at Popcorn Park Zoo years ago. Never gave them much notice; just looked at 'em as plain ol' geese.

Yeah that is a crappy turnout. I was in scouts not even 10 years ago and I'd say 80-90% of the troop went on the campouts. You're right about 40 being below average; we were usually packed.

I was looking over old places on my site that may need newer pictures when I came across this one. It's an old house right on Rt. 679, not too far from Harrisville if I remember correctly (it's been about 2 years). Don't mind the dark pictures; that was a crappy camera...

You're thinking of The Gatherers. I've been to their meeting place, and I don't really think this is the same group. The Gatherers wouldn't spraypaint their tents camo or use a propane grill. Or not bury their poop.

Harrisville is Wharton? Thought that was considered Bass River.

The church bus really threw me off; I thought originally it was a church group that was doing wilderness survival...but that's definitely not the case.

I see them walk out of there from time to time, but I've made sure every time I go back there that nobody's there. They ride their bikes to work, and one of them has a church bus.....dunno what they do with that though. No, they're not Arabic. :prop: I've been wanting to talk with them...

This isn't exactly a ghost town...it's still populated. I wasn't sure where to post this....but this is the closest thing to it. AND it's in the Pines, so I believe it fits here. I have stumbled upon a group of people who live in the woods.....in downtown Toms River. And I mean in tents...

I've had a bear or 2 cross the path right in front of me...they just keep going. Haven't been eaten yet anyway.

My cats have fun trying to kill those.....they always get away. Having your 'prey' slam into your face must not be fun.
