I just came back from there. The 2 chainsaws are still there......my first guess was someone tried cutting the tower down.

    Found a giant spider.....

That's priceless. I love spiders....I don't understand why people are scared of them. I used to catch them all the time when I was little. Wolf spiders were always my favorites....they're just so badass-looking.

    Found a giant spider.....

Somewhere on the Georgia side, near Waycross I believe. I've been to the Swamp's park too. A goat bit some kid there when I went. It was cool.

    Found a giant spider.....

Wow, I haven't seen a spider that big since I canoed in the Okefenokee. I've seen big wolf spiders but not THAT big. Was it just sitting there, or did it have a web?

I stopped by there a few months back hoping to do a then/now thing, but when I walked up to the tower, I saw people back there. Didn't know if they were workers or not, so I left.

Is the water tower still there? I've gone by a few times since it was torn down, and only the tower was left. There were large lights wrapped around the base of it, but it didn't look like anyone was rushing to take it down.

Yeah, I can walk across just about anything. I don't wear shoes all that often. I normally wear my boots when out looking for ghost towns, but I just didn't feel like it this time. I didn't really go off the trail all too much; there was too much broken glass on the ground.

Ehh, I was bored. I don't like shoes all that much either.

This is why you should always, always wear shoes when romping around in the Pines looking for ghost towns:

I believe in JD, although I think it's an unknown species rather than some old hag's 200 year old 13th bastard kid.

We were looking around that area on Mapquest once and found what looked like a small group of trailers. It was by the Four Mile Circle, so we were psyched that we found the group's location. That was a few years back though; I never did find that group of trailers.

....and these people still make sites about it.

Haven't gone out that way in over 2 years. Probably just wasn't paying attention. On that nature trail I mentioned, I did find and old, old stove....must've been from at least the early 1900's. It was stuck in the ground. Behind it I found some old jars. I haven't gone down that trail...

    Ongs Hat

There was supposedly some cult there (somewhat recently) who built some interdimensional travel device. The gov't supposedly smashed into their compound and killed some of the members. The survivors now live in a parallel dimension with no people......allegedly...

Ah, so you're the one who sent me those maps; it's been a while. I guess nothing is left then. I didn't see any restaurants, although there is a tavern.

Downtown Toms River has a couple as well, but I've never gone in any of those.

    Ongs Hat

Does anyone know anything about the town of Ongs Hat? I've gone out a few times over the past 3-4 years trying to find it. All I've come up with is that it's "off 72 somewhere". I managed to find Ongs Hat Road (which has a cool trail, the Dot and Brooks Evert trail). I'm not interested in...

I figured they'd go for more. But there are 2 days left, so we'll see.
