Have ticks always been a problem?

I am taking a class this summer starting in July that deals with this very topic--emerging vector-borne diseases. I think that climate change has contributed to more bugs overwintering as more life stages so they have an extra head start in the spring.

Thank you for the kind offer, Mr. Roo-say. I will give that one some thought.

Gas prices are so high so let me spend $7k on a Geo instead

I would LOVE to work from home a few days a week, I'd get so much more done. I hope this gas price increase spurs more interest in this sort of thing by my company. It would be very green of them, they could even spin that to their advantage. Pharmaceutical companies are often maligned, they...

    15" aluminum canoe

Largo, I don't really want to get rid of it, but we don't have a place to put it other than against the hedges in the back yard. I used to live on the Delaware and took it out all the time. We have kayaks now, so when the Gremlins go a-paddling, we always take the yaks and leave the canoe...

    15" aluminum canoe

Osagian canoe. Comes with two PFD's and two well-loved paddles. (that's salesman speak for fair condition). Canoe is light and in great shape. Good choice for kids, it has a little bit of a keel so it is very stable, yet tracks really well. $395.

Gas prices are so high so let me spend $7k on a Geo instead

We just bought a new car for this exact purpose. My husband is an independent computer fix-it guy who spends a LOT of time on the road. He has a Jeep Wrangler with a 2" lift and big knobby tires. You can see the problem this presents. It gets about 12 miles to the gallon, no kidding. So he was...

    Gypsy Moth activity

Nope, not too early, my coworker (an entomologist) lives in Tabernacle and says they are belaying themselves onto everything at the moment. The Dimilin spraying may keep them at bay for a short time, but they will be back.

    Bald Eagles at Franklin Parker

I see them flying over route 1 in Plainsboro quite often, of all places. There must be a nesting pair on Carnegie Lake. They are getting more and more common. This is a good thing. :)

    Some pics

Those are fantastic! The Copes tree frog is my favorite.

    Thanks Ben

Allow me to join in on the applause for NJPB.com. I have gotten so much from the vast knowledge base here, and I think I've said this before, but the discussions have sparked a renewed interest in ecology, and are pretty much responsible for my going back to graduate school. I am halfway...

    airport lake

I have a couple of friends on the East and West Amwell township committees, I'll ask about the property. I think it was left to kids who don't live there. I am pretty sure it is all private property.
