Apple Pie Fire Tower - Fence/Gate being installed?

It is a bit puzzling to me why they would erect such a small easily breached or topped fence if the goal is to prevent unauthorized access/vandalism/littering etc when the tower is not occupied. The news article in the "Pine Barrens Tribune" indicated they spent $200 (?). This appears to be more...

    Road Maintenance

By any chance did you happen to notice if any mitigation was performed to prevent future flooding/erosion issues? I realize its been filled and graded but any culverts added or any other noticeable additions in the areas that had been previously flooded out?

Who else goes hiking with their dog?

Although I have never run into "trouble" it always good to practice common sense, use your wits and act prudently. The two legged animal is always a concern but in general during daylight hours the folks you might run into while hiking/biking etc are usually just like you and I...good folks...

    Road Maintenance

Hopefully in addition to a reactive approach of filling and grading they are also proactively installing culverts or other features to prevent the five very large and deep mudholes from reforming on East Stokes Road in the area between Hampton road and the railroad tracks.

    PB National Park?

It's tempting to write a Pinelands Preserve petition - not through Change.org :) for more Federal and State funds to be allocated for additional Park Police, fire fighting support, road maintenance, historic structure rehabilitation, and purchase of land from willing private sellers. $10 million...

    PB National Park?

I am surprised that this conversation is ongoing as there is zero chance of the Pine Barrens becoming a National Park. Nancy Wittenbergs statement was correct that the last chance for the PB to be a national Park was at the time of the designation of the Pine Barrens as a Federal Reserve or...

    Phytoplankton bloom off the coast

By any chance have you been able to photograph any of the Sea Turtles in New Jersey? I would love to see that.....I participated in "turtle walks" when I lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL...seeing the enormous burrows they created to lay eggs and dozens of baby turtle tracks making there way...
