    Hurry up, hard frost!

The flies combo with high humidity will start to drive me nuts but on those days I'll just drive sand roads in the core barrens. I hate winter in the barrens though, its a whole different place once it gets cold out for me.

    Hurry up, hard frost!

I don't use Off/perm/or any chemicals. Chigs don't bother me, my family says its because even chiggers won't bite my sour skin. Honestly I think the chiggers are pretty blown out of proportion in the core barrens. You want bad chiggers go down to cape may and cumberland county.

    Tree Frog?

Al, apparently they came here naturally. I bet they have been here for a while and went unoticed until recently. I don't know the exact location but I think its by Supwana. They have also expanded into cumberland from what I'm told. A friend found one about five years ago in medford and...

    Lots of rain here today

Marginally better, lol. There are few days in the pines I regret going out, today was one of them. I sweat approx 75 pounds of water weight, was bitten by approx 3,521 mosquitoes, bitten by 1,501 pine flies (killing 2/3 of them) and collected 751 spider webs on my face...

Plan to put gas pipeline in Pinelands spurs ire

At least your honest. I understand both takes of not letting anything happen because you can't let small battles be won. In my opinion right a ways hold some of the best habitat and over time i think they benefit the local species. But like I said I understand the whole small battle thing or...

Why can’t the snakes cross the road

German the last part of your paragraph is what I see as annoying the amateur herpetologists (herpers) and puts the me against them thing out there. I think if all parties respect and work together then everything will be ok. At the end of the day we are very fortunate to have the pines here and...

Why can’t the snakes cross the road

So whats the solution? You and I sometimes agree on things and some times dont. I think there are certainly some bs projects and some good ones. I would just explore more deeply and make sure before blanketing them all as bs. I agree you and many people know alot about snakes in the pines but...

Actually I'm confused now maybe you just came up martha road and then turned back around. Did you ride the uneven road up and back?

Trip report: Pilgrim Lake Campground and Bass River SF exploring

I'm not sure why allen's is so destroyed. It was always a mess with big potholes and both sides. It seems like maybe they were going to repave it and decided not to. I hope they don't pave the road, wild woods back there. No idea why the other road is so uneven, but there are wet spots...

Trip report: Pilgrim Lake Campground and Bass River SF exploring

You took allen coal up past to oswego, attempted to turn west but saw the puddle and went further up allen. You hit warren grove around where you indicated and couldn't go further. You took that thin strip of road south of the gate that you couldn't go through and headed west. You then took...

Trip report: Pilgrim Lake Campground and Bass River SF exploring

You have to go at about 5mph on allen, its always been one of the worst roads out there but now its just horrific. Kinda good in some ways keeps most of the dopes out. Nice report.

Bass River State Forest road questions

My only advice is avoid Allen road at all cost, its a total disaster. Seems like someone dragged a plow on it for miles.
