    Here comes the hot weather

For about 20 minutes in the middle of the night it was the strongest winds I've seen and the damage was so widespread...truely impressive storm system. Couple things were striking to me. One there was very little personnel out directing traffic/assessing or cleaning up, its seems as if they were...

    Here comes the hot weather

I was right in the sweet spot of this storm in Linwood. It was the strongest winds I've ever seen and was a bit scary. Trees were uprooted everywhere and one almost took out our cars in the driveway. Atlantic county is a total mess and the Hamilton area and throughout much of Atlantic county...

People need to get a grip

Apparently you ran into one of the rogue turkey's terrorizing suburbs across the country :)

People need to get a grip

All of this is sensationalism. Turkeys are not a threat at all, I think I've seen all 30,000 (very low estimate IMO) in the state and never once an issue. The bear has been around forever, again not a big deal. The wolf is just someone damn stray dog, nobody in the media apparently has seen a...

    Search and Rescue

Took my Dad out for Father's Day and we said that same thing. If your unfamilar with the woods and especially the barrens you can get lost after about 50 feet of walking and immediately panic.

Sand operation could yield fracking riches

It was my knowledge that the sand here is not good for fracking, I hope that wasn't misinformation.

A Big Thanks to Everyone Protecting the Barrens

I've been dealing with some long term issues regarding destruction to the ecology of the pines. I wanted to thank everyone who is helping me protect the barrens from further destruction. The people know who they are but the amount of effort and support is overwhelming, your dedication to the...

    Friday Failed Frog Find

I saw more park police this weekend then I've seen in all my years going to the pines combined. I'm glad to see them and Guy I let them know about our friend from Saturday just in case in comes through the area.

    Snaaaake!

For the most part the dorsal blotches on a milk snake come closer down to the belly scales. Heads are different shapes too and the milk is less docile. The checkering can be absent on some coastals or minimal, corns are heavily checkered.

    Friday Failed Frog Find

Yeah, I never saw a ranger in probably two years out there and now I see one every time out. I like seeing them out there, I sometimes wish that was my job...I'd be a real SOB though, hah.

    Friday Failed Frog Find

Guy these were on the other side of the road, so your ok:) . Worst part is all were carrying eggs and smashed to bits. I managed to bring one dead painted turtle home and cut 3 eggs out of her and burried them in some dirt, hopefully they hatch so all isn't lost. Like I said turtles are a...

    Snaaaake!

Corns and milks appear similar, not sure how to describe the differences. Corns are more red and yellow, different looking dorsal blotches too. You finding a milksnake just out and about is extremely rare, most people find them under cover.

    Friday Failed Frog Find

Yeah I thought a whippoorwill too. Guy as we discussed today it got stinking cold last night in the pines. After leaving you today Guy I drove back up towards friendship and appeared the Boys Scouts parents are very good at drilling every painted turtle on roads, no dead snakes though;)
