    Acagisca

You have to go to the station at lake lenape to gain access. I think it's a $5.00 fee to use the canoe access. And there is no parking, just drop off or pick up. At least that's what we found out last smmer.

    Cedar Water Potability

as a kid I probably swallowed more cedar water than I'd like to admit swimming and clowning around in the lake. don't ever remember getting sick...at that time i think cedar water was part of my chemical make up.....now, I'm not so sure...so when I unintentially go swimming while...

    Walk on the Beach

I also found a plant growing away from the water. Under the oaks and huckleberries. There were a few smaller ones on the beach. I have no idea what it is, never seen them before. Does any one know what this is?

    Walk on the Beach

While reading and responding to another thread, I thought this might be a good place to show what is blooming or calling my part ofthe Pines home. I live with in about a 1/2 block of our main lake. The lakes here were cranberry bogs in the late 1800's early 1900's. I have lived here my whole...

Could Bobpbx Be The Reason ?

this was a very interesting read! and one near and dear to me. in the past 2 years I have seen more wild flowers blooming along the Rt 322 in Atlantic county than I have in I can't say how long. Here it might be due to budge cuts keeping the state or county from mowing on a regular basis. On...

    spung?????

i have to laugh reading this thread... 3 channels, yep and the stations went off every night with the flag and star spangle banner playing, at I believe midnight. ...besides being "historically aware" we are like fine wine....."aged to perfection" old enough to know better and young enough to...

    Acagisca

Both Sacy and Shepards Mill belonged to Holly Shores. I spent 2 weeks at SM in '67. It was different than Sacy in that if you had the money to pay the additional fee, there was horseback riding as part ofthe activities...really wanted to do that but at the time just the basic camping was all we...

    Acagisca

being a former girl scout who spent many a summer camping at Sacajewea in Piney Hollow, I always wanted to spend a week or two at Acagisca. It never happened. The Holly Shores GS Counsel closed the camp due to, if I remember correctly, a lack of funds and staff. This was the most rustic of the...

    Egg Harbor River

sorry, live near here and have alway referred to the river as ehr. well, i read the thread about the trip...it solidified my assumptions about that section of the river. we are familiar with what can be seen from the roads and trails. i think when i was younger i might have tried it....now...

    Egg Harbor River

Has anyone paddled the EHR from Winslow WMA to Penny Pot? Or the section from RT 54 to Penny Pot? We've paddled the river from 8th Street to Lake Lenape...but haven't done the upper part. Not sure if we ever will, just wondering what that section of the river is like.

    Box Turtle question

i don't know if this is fact or an old wives tale, but i've been told when helping a turtle cross a road to take it in the direction it was facing. otherwise it will turn around and head back. thanks for saving the critters! it makes me extremely angry to see a turtle squished on the...

I have gotten some great, albeit in my own estimation, shots and some washed out looking ones. I have been looking at the photos in the gallery and...

very nice... i haven't seen a green snake in about 30 years. the one and only time, i was walking barefoot in the local sand pit and one slithered out of the grass in front of me...caught me by surprise. had my stride been a bit longer i would have stepped on him. they are beautiful!

    Fleas, Ticks, Skeeters and Dogs

We are taking the extra precaution by adding the herbal collar to keep the skeeters away along with changing from Frontline Plus to Advantix. And having him tested twice a year, mainly to put my own mind at ease. As far as Interceptor, I was more concerned about the response I received from...

    Fleas, Ticks, Skeeters and Dogs

We (and our vet) did report it to Novartis and their response was basicaly "oh well". Since we did not get the Interceptor from our vet they weren't responsible. Though they told us they would pay for the second test to confirm the heartworm, we have yet to see that. It's been 8 weeks. I am...

    Fleas, Ticks, Skeeters and Dogs

We recently had to have our border collie treated for heartworm. We adopted him about 18 months ago and he tested negative then. He has been on Interceptor continually but 8 weeks ago he tested positive. We don't know wether his original test was a false negative or the Interceptor failed...
