    Music for the day

Rick Ocasek dead at 70. Always liked The Cars and this song in particular back in the day. Man, that seemed like just a few years ago.

    WILD weekend

I don't see one kid or parent checking their phone. Could it possibly be that the Outdoors are more interesting ?? :) I am, however, not too sure we should teach kids how to fish in a live well. ;)

A Fine Time For Fine Wine

    Music for the day

Loved the motorcycles in that movie. Both panheads. After that movie came out me and kids in my town started building chopped bicycles. My Dad took my forks to work and had 3' long pipes welded over my stock forks. It didn't have much rake so I was pretty much staring at the steering head when...

    Long Island Piney

The man truly loves his pitch pine trees, even calling them "delicious" at one point. I really am glad to see that he is still out there doing what he loves to do. :)

    Warm, warmer, hot.

Good to see Al Gore found something meaningful like promoting vegan burgers after all the energy he expended inventing the internet. :) I will never understand the dichotomy of vegetarians/vegans spending so much energy trying to find a palatable, weed-packed imitation of a naturally tasty...

    Atco Powerline ROW

Pope, The open area is one of the old feed plots planted by the State. They are all over the place in Wharton and extensive "rye strips" can be found throughout the Bulltown area. I never knew if it was Parks and Forestry or Fish and Wildlife that created them or if it was a joint effort. The...

A pocket knife saves the day...

Wow. Most of us will never understand the power of the drive to survive that this guy felt. And that's a good thing.

    RATtle Snake

For just one short day, it was confirmed that there was a timber rattler in Albion, a section of Winslow near Pine Hill. My wife sent me a Nixle about it at lunch. The NJDEP has now confirmed it was a rat snake...

NJ Anti-Hunting Extremists Plan To Ban Hunting One Town At A Time

There are four very active, long-standing gun (deer) clubs located in my township. We also have large portions Wharton State Forest within our boundaries where hunting is permitted. I would hope that our municipality wouldn't entertain such ludicrous legislation but with today's use of social...

    Cicada's have been

Awesome site 46er ! We had the 17 year cicadas emerge at my house when I was in my teens. They were distributed around the base of gray birch. One of the most amazing natural phenomena I have witnessed. Everyone was taking their shed skins and hanging them on their shirts. :) Here is your...

    Tesla

I like dinosaurs better Bob; it's gives a better graphic. :) Either way, electricity isn't a magical, free energy source for electric vehicles or for any other use.

    Tesla

To Hell with electric cars ! I'll be burning my dinosaurs fresh from the ground. :) Unless your electricity source is somehow made from unicorn farts, rotting dinosaurs had something to do with your ability to plug in your car.

    Excessive Heat

Reminds me of the old rhyme: Whether it's cold or whether it's hot, we'll have weather whether or not. :)

    In the blazing hot plains

What a crime against humanity ! I only use the old versions for project key maps. They are a tribute to the map maker's art. The new ones are horrible and the removal of critical detail that was already on the older versions is inexplicable.

Grouse Season Closed in New Jersey

A sad bulletin from NJF&W. There is nothing quite like the thunderous flush of a grouse. In the late 70's and early 80's it was still common to find grouse in the pines, especially in the oak cuttings around the cedar swamp edges near where I live now. They are very common in the woods that I...
