The ballparked distance I got Guy from my buddy who went in to see it late Thursday was 1000' but he also gave a vivid description of the spot that I easily recognized. I will post a map in a few minutes with a pin.

Yes they have Guy and I hope they don't give up if the gate again blocks access to the public lands.

The joy may be short-lived. I was advised late today that he intends to install another gate further into the woods on the same road; possibly as soon as tomorrow. It ain't over yet.
