Dragon, I never noticed any stripes on the adults. Do they typically get obscured by stuff in the water? Can you show us a few pictures of some adult red bellies with stripes on their head? Gabe

Good stuff, dragon. So that latin name is Pseudemys rubriventris? How many different kinds are there? Apparently some of them retain the stripes on their head into adulthood, although the kind we have in the Pines do not?

Thanks dragon, but I have to give infinite sameness credit for the find. How old would you guess he is? When do they lose the stripes on their head and the patterns on their shell?

    Question

There is a section of Allaire that I would consider to be Pine Barrens, although I would generally agree with Ben on this.

    The Mordecai Revisited

The 1808 Road 200 years later Mordecai's Swamp, so named after Mordecai Andrews who, along with his brother, settled Tuckerton in the late 1600's. Mordecai purchased a large swamp bordering the Mullica River in the early 1700's in order to pillage the virgin cedars. From Mordecai's Landing on...

    Native American Shell Middens

I was wrong. No human remains have been found in the mound itself. It is claimed that one of the skeletons in the nearby graves was of a man over 7 ft. tall, though this might be a "tall" tale.
