    diurnal ice crunching

Dragon, Last month, on a bitter cold day, I found a big red-belly seemingly sunning himself on the beach, which I thought was odd. He was rather unresponsive to me. Was he dying?

    Slag vs. Pig Iron???

If anyone has any pictures to post, it might help us all get a clearer idea of the finer distinctions between the types of slag and pig.

I must agree with Bob. Great work, Bill. Those are some of the purtiest streams in the Pines. Eh, they're all purty, aren't they?

That's what I was thinking, king. I couldn't tell if rozecki was saying that the boardwalk was at the location of the furnace or in the vicinity of it.

    An icy beaver pond

I first stumbled across this pond several years ago after fighting my way up a tight and unkempt Mechescatauxin. Jeff had discovered the pond on his own as well, and we had independently concluded that the pond was held in place by what we thought was the longest beaver dam either one of us had...

    Unfinished places.

I forgot to mention that the place is going to be developed by H.Hovnanian. They've been trying to develop it for many years now, but have been unable to do so because of the radioactive waste. http://www.thespanishmansion.com/the_park.html

Good pictures, stomper. How long did it take you to paddle there? Were the waters really choppy that day?

    Beware of Beaver

G, Two years ago, while paddling the stretch of river near your Uncle's, I came to a spot where there were at least two beavers violently slapping their tails against the water. Very territorial. Hopefully my dog will never have any run-ins with one on the river.
