    Amatol on earth

Are there any photos of Amatol as it was? And (this may sound silly) what happened to all the buildings? I know there are soem remains, but not many at all. Or am I mistaken? Now that I think of it, I have done next to no research on this ghost town of my back yard.

NJDEP iMAP 1930 Aerial Photobase Now Available

Well, an old-timer verified that the river has shallowed considerably over the decades. I guess the 1930 photographs just don't show it.

NJDEP iMAP 1930 Aerial Photobase Now Available

Well, this website is now taking up all of my free time. I think I'm going blind too. Thanks, Rednek350! :) I once read that the lower Mullica river above Lower Bank has shoaled and widened significantly over the years as a result of the wake of boats and jet skis destroying the banks...

Quiet time & a stop or two.

'Tis a great thing when timelessness takes a hold of us. :) Good to hear you had a nice time on the water.

Returning To The Wescoat Bog Area...a PBX Hike

I haven't found a way to cut and paste it nor a way to send it as a link. I think it's time for me to take Computer 101. :)

    Mary Ann Forge and Cranberries

Ben, what exactly did you see in the 1930's photos that you didn't see in modern photos which indicated to you that there were bogs there?

Returning To The Wescoat Bog Area...a PBX Hike

I am in disbelief still, but the New Pond can be seen in the 1930's aerial photos from the NJDEP site. The dam burst in the early thirties, so these photos must have been taken just in time! Thank goodness. I'm in heaven now. Thank you, Scott, for turning us on to this. :)

That excerpt from Harshberger's book is very informative. I gotta get me a copy of that. Thanks for the maps, fellers. Makes fine sense to me.

    More Pine Barrens Weirdness

Guy, http://teegate.njpinebarrens.com/misc/IMG_6013.JPG This is on Hampton road, isn't it? Those pipes are made of metal from what I recall. I always wondered who had dumped them and why the State hasn't removed them.
