    I just got back from Wharton.There were a few deer flies but nothing like the swarms that come later.There were maybe three around the truck as i drove a tight road and normally in june/july there would be fifty flies around each side view mirror.

    yeah about the end of july,the greenheads last a little longer near open water.by mid august all thats left is ticks,skeeters though their dying down too and then the chiggers hit the grass running and last in till october!

    I'd catch salamanders all day,when my dad figured out what i was doing he took my catch for fish bait.From then on I hid my bucket and told him I wasn't finding anything.I let everything go at the end of the day.I found out you don't keep salamanders and crawdads in the same bucket.The dads eat em.
