NJ bag ban causing more plastic use

Is storing a few bags really that hard of an ask, though? I just seems like such a minor inconvenience. I personally LOVE self checkout but everywhere I've been there have still been checkout lanes with cashiers.

NJ bag ban causing more plastic use

I have a box full of old plastic bags saved from back in the day which I use for litter box duty. That being said, I purchased two big waxed canvas tote bags off Amazon and I can generally fit all of my shopping in them since they hold a LOT and are strong with nice thick leather handles. It's...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Actual photo of me reacting to all of this resuscitated MAP nonsense from the Pinelands Prevention Alliance.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

It being unpopular doesn't matter one bit. Its always been that anybody who is against this plan is a radical 4x4 enthusiast who only cares about tearing up the environment. That's why there's been no real engagement between the PPA and the off-road community besides antagonizing each other...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

What baffles me the most is all of the time, money, and energy dedicated to this fight while development continues to happen all around the area. If we're shutting things down, why not put effort into limiting growth in the growth zones? Once a house or building goes up that area is pretty much...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I'm at a loss to understand why this even matters. The Pine Barrens isn't Acadia or the Smokey Mountains, it has its own set of roads and trails, what's the point in comparing it to other parks? Plus was there ever a situation in those places where there was an existing set of trails already...

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

The new 2024 MAP proposal is up on NJPB Maps. Thanks again to Boyd for making the tileset for the map. https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.64408187622559&lng=-74.6466937270106&z=13&type=dep2024&gpx=

If you hold shift down and click the reload button it will ignore the cache and load everything fresh. Should work across different browsers and operating systems.

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

Just a heads up, with Boyd's help the NJ DEP's 2015 draft MAP is now available as a layer in NJPB Maps, so you can see what roads would have been closed had it gone through. (You can switch between the various topo/historical maps to compare.) When they have a new MAP I'll make that one...

What new things would you like to see here?

I'm working on trying to figure out a safe and secure way to put the image gallery back up. The problem is that development on the software that ran it stopped years ago so there aren't really any new bug fixes to make it secure so I have to see what options are available, if any. I definitely...

A Fine Time For Fine Wine

I started a batch of cider today in my fancy new conical fermenter. This'll be a small one - only two gallons. Got the cider from Battleview Orchards right by Monmouth Battlefield in Freehold, added a cup of sugar, and half a package of ale yeast. The kitchen looks like a science experiment...

What new things would you like to see here?

I still have the final backup of the gallery. (9GB worth of pictures!) The issue is that the software that ran it is long dormant. I might be able to get it moved to some other software although I'm not sure that the links would be the same.

What new things would you like to see here?

Getting Wordpress (which is what runs the front page) and Xenforo (which runs the forums) to work together and play nice is tricky. But I can see what's possible now since it's been a while since I last looked.
