    Music for the day

So it looks like Youtube changed something with how media gets embedded and I needed to make a change on this site. Give it a shot now and see if it's working for you.

    Music for the day

It works on my phone. I'm actually out of town right now. I'll have to take a look tomorrow sometime.

A tough trip down the Nescochague

That looks like a pretty intense (but fun) trip. I'd have been nervous bringing that 5D along for the trip. That's not cheap to replace if it falls into the drink.

    No Copperheads in the Pines?

I had to delete that article. While it probably falls under the Fair Use exception for copyright law, the last time someone posted an image of a newspaper article I got a cease and desist letter and had to hire an attorney to deal with it. Feel free to transcribe it and repost it, but I don't...

    PB National Park?

I forgot that I had used MoveOn.org for the MAP petition, not Change.org. My comment about being a liberal and partisan politics sucking still stands. :)

    PB National Park?

Stupid idea, for the reason that SuperCooch said. There will be even less resources and money available to protect the Pines if this somehow went through. "This step will create additional protections and funding so everyone will be able to enjoy the pine barrens in ways we previously could not...

Dangerous booby-traps found along a popular North Jersey trail

Fits in with what's happening in the Pines recently. http://www.nj.com/passaic-county/index.ssf/2016/08/dangerous_booby-traps_found_along_popular_north_jersey_trail.html#incart_2box_nj-homepage-featured

    Wharton Super

    Well, besides the hayrides.

    Wharton Super

It's good if you like a scenic park with apple orchards. Monmouth Battlefield is one of my favorite places to go photograph.

Episode 38: The Wisdom of John McPhee

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. Now that I have a hour to kill on the ferry commute to and from work I've been tearing through books on my Kindle.

    Wharton Super

So if Inga Gabliks is acting super at Monmouth Battlefield and Dave Robbins is acting super at Wharton, where'd Rob go?

Episode 38: The Wisdom of John McPhee

Anybody have any suggestions for another McPhee book? I read Uncommon Carriers and it was good but not, in my opinion, as good as The Pine Barrens.

So I heard a rumor that Rob Auermuller isn't at Batsto anymore? Anybody hear anything?

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Are you saying the one on NJPB Maps that I just posted isn't accurate?

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Pretty sure this is the 1997 map. http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.648972599081375&lng=-74.64581377777097&z=14&type=topo&gpx=

    4x4 Accessible/Legal/Appropriate Excursions

If you're in doubt about a puddle it may make sense to throw a pair of knee waders on and wander into the puddle to test how deep it is. Beats getting stuck or potentially damaging something. As far as legal roads go, pretty much anything that shows up on a 1997 USGS topo map (like the ones at...

    PPA beating the drum again

Eh, I'm all for the police following up with people if someone feels like they've been harassed online. Obviously you weren't going to be a problem but the police officer had no way of knowing that, and I'd rather them be safe than sorry. </derail>

    Nash's Cabin

I'll vouch for this book. I purchased it off Amazon just for the Nash's Cabin article. I never though I'd see the history of the cabin so expertly detailed.

    New Macintosh Virus/Malware

I disabled the email and web shield stuff. I just have it scanning files as they're opened/written to.
