Exploring The Mines Spung Fire Area

Agreed Bob. That is very sad to see. To perish by fire is horrible. Everyone knows I’m not a fan of snakes but I would never wish that on any animal.

Deforestation: Voorhees developer wants to build on wooded land next to Evesham's Black Run Preserve.

I just received the attached Memo in work a few minutes ago. Interestingly, there is a proposal to change the Black Run Watershed Pinelands Management area designation to Forest from the current, Rural Development. They better hurry up.

Deforestation: Voorhees developer wants to build on wooded land next to Evesham's Black Run Preserve.

The maximum wetlands buffer for development projects within the nine Pinelands Management Areas is 300 feet. There are two avenues for reducing the buffer, which include seeking a Waiver of Strict Compliance, under very specific conditions, or working through the Pinelands Buffer Delineation...

Big Fire Near The Boot Camp

I remember it well. My Springer, Murph, attended that one. I miss that boy.

Big Fire Near The Boot Camp

About twenty or more years ago, I started frequenting the area around Bulldozer Road and Mannis Duck Pond, back when NJFW first instituted the Coyote-Fox predator season. That season runs from January 1 to March 15 every year. I clearly remember the State's routered wood signs high in the trees...

No more “Fill it up” at Wawa if you pay cash

Cash is King. I literally never charge fuel. I do as much business as possible in cash, especially with small local businesses. They lose when you use a card. My local mechanic, who does things for me that I can't do or no longer have the time, energy or tools to do, really appreciates it. I...

    Pine Snake

I was taking pictures at an industrial jobsite in Somerdale and I had a Killdeer feigning injury in front of me. Every time I moved she squealed and went into the feigning act. Very cool. I couldn't figure out where the nest was that she was protecting.

New Jersey parks launch new pet-friendly program.

Pretty sure my son's Plott Hound, Finley, can read. He watches TV intently and when there are words on the screen, his head moves slowly from left to right. He's a cool dog.

It's okay Ed. Almost every dog I know can't read, so the posted hours won't really matter. :)

Our Camp After The Jones Road Fire

I still have my Coleman cabin tent Guy. I have the 9' x 12'. My parents bought it in the early 70's and we camped from ME to FL in that tent.. I used it through the mid 1980's and into the early 90's when my kids were growing up. I have a plan to use it this coming June. Here is a link to a...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I use 6-gallon wine juice buckets. :) At any given time there are at least 2 buckets in each of my trucks and 3 or 4 strewn around my back yard. No batteries or WIFI needed, just a simple ruler is all it takes. My only problem is following the very simple reset procedure after a rain...
