OVERPUMPING OF AQUIFER, OVERDEVELOPMENT THREATEN PINELANDS, REPORT SAYS

I overpump the aquifer at the well head at Batona camp. That is my oasis when I am spending a long day in Wharton.

    Where is this?

Is there a new stop sign on that road the causes you to intersect with some "misery"? As in Pasadena?

LEO can use the existing range at Collier Mills or use one of the many ranges on the base. Why waste the money?

    August Wildlife Watching Questions

Keith, don't be alarmed if you are in an area that is rarely visited by visitors and someone questions what your intentions are for that particular spot. Some of us are often deep in the pine forest monitoring and cataloging the flora and fauna. If we are suspicious our concerns will be raised...

    Where is this?

The bend, just in the distance to the right, is a great spot to photograph Wood ducks if you don't mind the hike through the high bush to get there.

I wouldn't be concerned with any Timbers being found in the area of Batona Camp. That sign was put up as a precaution.

    Black Phase Timber

Bob, I agree with Chris on his sentiment. Keep a watchful eye on her. There are to many jokers and lurkers around anymore.

    Black Phase Timber

Piney, Chile's post is correct on sexing a snake by appearance alone. I will try to help even more by using Bob's third photograph. Notice the sudden fattening of the body a few inches past the rattle? The rattle and that section is what you would call a "short" tail. The wide body is more...

    Black Phase Timber

Nice dark phased female you have their Bob. Did she have the almond dorsal stripe that really sets the color off? -Did she have any other damage on her besides what can be seen on the tail? I only ask because I am always looking for signs of fungal disease.

Two Bear Sightings Reported In Winslow Township

Saturday I came across a pair of bear tracks in Wharton. I followed them for more than a mile and saw several spots where the pair dug holes foraging. It was exciting to see in person! From what I saw, I would say it was a sow and cub.

    Berkely Crossroads Fire Notes

I have yet to put it together, but I have always wanted to do a time-lapse of the recovery after a good burn. The visual would be terrific to see the green breaking through the blackened forest. I should have set up at Carranza...
