Whats going on at hawkins bridge?

I think this might be the up and coming trend for the the Safety Sallys that think branches falling from tall trees are a hazard to campers. I can't recall were else I saw maintenance and grooming that made me stop and wonder - Who thought that clearing land like this was a good idea for a camp...

    Art of the Day

I must admit, having a studio nearby is exciting because there is always a new display. Every sculpture has a soul of its own, that changes with the day and seasons. Snow, falling leaves and summer nights add to their character. You don't know what to expect because they quickly set up the...

    Chopping down a tree?

A second salute and a pat on the back as well.:) You should have put a sign on tree saying "Smile for the camera" just to mess with the culprits.

This is the newest masterpiece from Johnson-Atelier and the Sculpture Foundation Studio located in Hamilton. These impressive , two and a half story tall figures are a three dimensional interpretation of Grant Wood's famous "American Gothic" painting. The early morning sun, filtered through a...

    Hiking the Parker Preserve

I found a battery today by bridge 74 that Ecampbell went to visit. It had been pulled out of the muck nearby. Edison Carbonaire batteries, of this style, were used starting around 1953 to power railroad signals. More than likely, there was a battery box nearby for the signals for the station and...

    Any serious birders here?

Has anyone claimed the hundred dollar reward for a picture of a Gyr in the Meadowlands? The NJMC was at one time offering a reward for a picture confirming a Gyr was present in that area. It has been a few years since I heard anything of it.

    Moonshiners Show

I just read that my favorite moonshiner on the show, old man Popcorn, committed suicide in March of 2009. Bummer. He was facing eighteen months in federal prison and choose to take his life instead of serving the sentence. His legacy lives on, however. His moonshine is the first white whiskey to...

    A Study of....?

I recently revisited an area which was thought to be a sawmill site in Stafford Forge. I wanted to make a day of it and decided to hike in from Rt 539. I was blazing my own trail and using fire cuts, trying to stay off any roads as much as possible on my way in. While walking parallel to...

    Kodak

I recently bought a Kodak Zi8 pocket video recorder. A great device and has a top ten rating. The problem was, I had never heard about it. Kodak would do much better if they advertised and promoted their products more aggressive. The company has no market approach. I believe the corporation...

    sled dogs

A few times, I have seen a team of sled dogs pulling a dog cart in the Mt. Misery area. It is impressive to watch, as the dogs pulled for all they were worth and loving every moment of it. I couldn't believe how fast the team and driver were moving. In and out of sight in very little time. It...

    Canon D60 Lense Question

Teegate, is the lens pictured an a-mount? If so, you might want to look at the newer Alpha series Sony dslr. The older Minolta lenses are a direct mount onto these cameras with no adapters. The a-mount lenses that were manufactured from 1985 to 2006 are compatible. Some features on certain...

some new Batsto river footage posted as part of Pines film project

Thank you, for giving us a glimpse of your project. I enjoyed it very much and it has a good artistic feel to the imagery. I must say, watching it gave me the same feeling I have when I'm on the water - very well done. The loss of the camera is terrible, but the results are worth it. Next trip...
