    Sasquatch in the Pines

Wasn't there a sighting by Governors Pond? A creature eight feet tall taking refuge in a forest of pygmy pines. Manumuskin is the sand any softer over there?

Traveler's Forecast for the Pine Barrens

On a more serious note for a change. The amount of rainfall this year as of November was just over sixty inches, breaking the 1996 record. A large portion of that number came in August and it was raining almost weekly since then. It could simple be the combination of less demand on the water...

The Delaware Inn is still standing at the far end of the brewery. Fred Sanford's recipe for Champipple is gingerale and Ripple, not to be confused with Champale, which is a malt liquor.;)

    NJPB Live Maps Important Update

I think Strom overlooked the date of Teegate's picture from 1970 that he posted in a different post. It is the picture of the dam with the original stone structured exposed. It is the Harrisville Lake thread by Piker56.

Then and Now.....The Accident of the Blue Comet Train

Add one more vote for a jumble of railcars. What are the chances of that being caught on an aerial photograph? Pretty cool.

Dogg57, that is Tom Glover's blog. I spoke with him several times. A great person and a local historian for the greater Hamilton area. Mr. Glover hosts many events at Kuser Park, including their summer music program and lawnchair movies. Fun, small shows for lazy summer evenings.:)

    Interactive Historic Map Site

I am always trying to find the locations of old buildings and businesses. Other times, I am curious to the family names mentioned here on the forums and where that family might have resided. I came across an very good tool for both. Check out the link, it is a favorite of mine...

    Lower Bank News 1931

There is a famous picture of the USS Los Angeles mentioned in Ella's transitory writings. The airship, stationed at Lakehurst NAS, is vertical at it's mooring mast. It was caused by the sudden arrival of a cold air mass. Keep in mind that this airship is 656 feet long.

    Black Bear in laurel Lake

The rain tonight could work in your favor. The wet sand will hold a track better and maybe that bear will bed down in the area you first saw him.

Manumuskin, you are so lucky! How soon are you going to back to find that bear? Don't forget your camera!

Traveler's Forecast for the Pine Barrens

Amazing Jerseyman! I enjoy pictures of the old buildings and businesses, when they were in their prime. There is little left, as time and progress has taken it's toll. The road in front of the brewery must be Lalor Street. I saw a glass negative of the brewery and I believe that the picket fence...

Traveler's Forecast for the Pine Barrens

Spung-Man, many thanks, as always, for you wisdom. Champale, being brewed, was a horrible smell that lingered in the south Trenton air. I can recall smelling it as far down as the marina when we were daredevils jumping off of the old Hog Island cranes. If it tasted as bad as that...

Traveler's Forecast for the Pine Barrens

S-M, any explaination for the lack of encroachment along the roads? Was the land clear because of the industries of the era, such as logging? I have noticed in early aerial photos that the pines appear less dense with more of the forest floor visible.
